Open Air Concert
| The National Trust is becoming very
famous for its fantastic open air
concerts. We went to the Sound of the 70's concert at Clumber
Park in 2001. What a tremendous evening we had. There was a wonderful atmosphere as thousands of people soaked up the nostalgic atmosphere in a wonderful natural amphitheatre setting. So many people had donned fancy dress, and the food and drink that people had taken was just amazing. |

The evening started at 4.00pm with a 70's style disco, provided by a
local radio station. At 6 o'clock the live groups started performing and these included The Counterfeit Bee Gees, Boney M and Edwin Starr. This was really my type of music, especially Boney M. People were dancing and singing everywhere and thoroughly enjoying themselves. At 10 o'clock the evening concluded with a spectacular firework display. |
| The whole evening was exceptionally well organised so that
everybody could just concentrate on listening to some great music and having a really good
time. Nobody even seemed to notice when there was a little bit of rain, but perhaps the large amounts of alcohol that been consumed helped with this. The banquets and feasts that people had taken with them must have taken hours of preparation and certainly I don't think anybody went hungry. I can highly recommend these concerts and I am sure that we will be back for many more in the future. Details of the concerts can be found on the National Trust web site in the Events Directory. |
