Big Mose Basecamp

Name:  Big Mose
Location:  Dudmaston, Shropshire

Location Map

This basecamp is a seventeenth-century two-storey farmhouse located on the edge of the Dudmaston Estate in Shropshire.

The building is very welcoming and you very quickly feel relaxed and at home.

Although it is an isolated spot there are a number of other buildings on the site occupied by National Trust staff and long term volunteers.

There are three dormitories (two upstairs and one downstairs), all fitted with wooden bunk beds. In total there is accommodation for 18 people.

The ladies toilets and showers are upstairs, but the gents toilets and showers are in an adjacent building and so the men have to walk outside (about 10m) to get to this building.

All of these facilities are very good and clean.

Upstairs there is a lounge area with some soft chairs around a wooden table.

Unfortunately this room is very sparse and had the feeling of a school common room and was not particularly inviting.

However all of the rooms are warm as the whole building has central heating.

The kitchen is large and the equipment is adequate with a large electric stove and a fridge freezer.

There is a hatchway through to a large dining area with tables and wooden benches.

The dining area was generally used as an area to relax, rather than the upstairs room.

This is a very pleasant basecamp with good facilities and plenty of car parking space.
Outside there is a also a grass field and picnic tables for Summer barbecues and picnics.

My Star Rating for this basecamp  (10 is the Best)
