Arrowe Park Adventure Centre

Name:  Arrowe Park Adventure Centre
Location:  Arrowe Country Park,
The Wirral, Merseyside.

Location Map

The Arrowe Park Adventure Centre is owned by The Wirral Local Authority and is situated within the Arrowe Country Park.

The park also has a golf course, tennis courts, bowling greens, five-a-side football pitches, pitch and putt, plus a number of pleasant pathways and woodland walks.

Known as Ivy Farm, this converted farm building provides comfortable accommodation, with central heating throughout.

The entrance to this centre is from a courtyard, off of a busy road that passes along the edge of the park.

Although cars can be brought into this area to unload they then have to be moved to the back of the centre, where there is ample parking space and access to the centre from an external stairway.

There is a large relaxation / lounge area with a huge bay window overlooking the gardens at the front of the building.

The decoration of the room is a bit bland, but with a bit of re-arranging the area can soon be made quite comfortable and welcoming.

The dining room is set out in a formal way, but again the furniture can be moved so that groups can be seated around the tables, rather than back-to-back.

There is hatchway from this room to the kitchen which makes the serving of food easy.

The centre can accommodate about 30 people in five dormitories, fitted with bunk beds. The rooms are very spacious, with plenty of hanging space for clothes.

All of the main rooms of the centre are on the first floor, as most of the ground floor is used by the park rangers and for a visitor centre.

The only rooms used by the centre on the ground floor are the toilets, showers and drying room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a large twin oven gas stove, microwave cooker, large fridge freezer and plenty of high quality utensils.

However, there is only one small sink which does make washing up a bit challenging.

The quality and quantity of crockery and cutlery was also very good.

This basecamp is primarily used for youth and school groups and there is that feel about the place. Although the accommodation is quite adequate, it is more practical than welcoming.

My Star Rating for this basecamp  (10 is the Best)
