Airton Hostel Basecamp
| Name: Airton Hostel | ![]() |
| Location: Airton Village, North Yorkshire | |
| This basecamp is not owned by the National
Trust, but is used occasionally for working holidays when other basecamps are not
available. This basecamp is a Quaker Hostel in the village of Airton, in the Yorkshire Dales. It is only about 200m from the Pennine Way and is a recognised overnight stopping point for walkers on this route. |

Situated behind a row of cottages the hostel is on the edge of an
ancient small graveyard. Next to the hostel is the Quaker Meeting House, which has recently started to be used again for services on a Sunday morning. |
| There is one main, large room downstairs which is the kitchen,
dining room and living area. If the hostel was full then this room may be a bit claustrophobic. Also downstairs are the toilets, just one for the ladies and one for the gents. |

Upstairs are the three dormitories, all with bunk beds. These each
sleep eight, four and two people. There is not a lot of spare space and there are no cupboards or storage areas. Each dormitory does have its own hand washing basins. Also upstairs is the one, single shower. |
The facilities are fairly basic,
but adequate for a weekend stay. |
