Athens Messenger May 14, 1920

Charles Walden Holmes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Holmes of Jacksonville, was born April 2, 1916, and departed this life May 7, 1920 making him four years one month and five days old. Little Charles was a remarkably intelligent child for one of his age and he endeared himself to his parents and many friends by his kind and uncomplaining disposition. "There is a reaper whose name is death and with his sickle keen He reaps the bearded grain at a greath and the flowers that grow between." Little Charles was one of the flowers and the Heavenly Father wanted him for the adornment of the kingdom and he took him. May the bereaved parents and freinds be comforted and sustained by the one who said: "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for as much is the kingdom of heaven." The funeral of the little four year old son of Mr. and Mrs Loren Holmes of Jacksonville was held in the Methodist church at that place yesterday at 1 o'clock and interment was made in the West Union street cemetery in Athens. The little boy died last Friday.

** Charles Holmes was the son of Loren Everett and Grace A. Robinson Holmes, grandson of John William and Elizabeth Tysinger Robinson, great grandson of Thomas Willliam and Magdalena Haning Robinson, and the great- great grandson of John Lee and Lydia Bishop Robinson.
