THE PLOT (I can't believe its almost over): Freddy comes into the church and hits us with a good one liner.  "Welcome to Wonderland Alice".  Once again thank you Freddy for making this heap of trash enjoyable at times.  Alice breaks out some Gymkata on Freddy's ass which has little effect on him.  Once again girls aim for the balls, it will drop anyone.  Freddy talks about Alice having their power but he has the souls.  Alice opens a small can of whoop ass but the tables quickly turn when Freddy chucks her.

Ok, now do you remember that stupid gadget Sheila made.  Well Alice utilizes it with an electrical cord to blow a hole into Freddy's chest.  He covers it up and taunts her saying he is eternal.  So what is she supposed to do.  Well...once again remember that stupid dream master rhyme mentioned ages ago.  Freddy's kids recite it and it goes like so;
"Now I lay me down to sleep
The master of dreams my soul I'll keep
In the reflection of my mind's eye
Evil will see itself and it shall die..."

With that Alice grabs a shard of glass in which Freddy sees his reflection. The souls start to escape and rip Freddy apart.  The souls leave him once and for all.  She tells Freddy to "rest in hell".  Oooh thats a stinger.  So before I go on to the sappy ending, let me touch upon what I just described.  So...Freddy can't look at himself in a reflection.  Why is that?  Am I supposed to buy that just because a nursery rhyme says it that its supposed to be true?  I mean if thats the case, any jag off with a mirror can defeat Freddy.  Oh and I forgot to mention this aspect with Debbie's demise.  Freddy's reflection appeared in one of her dumbbells.  He seemed to be looking right into it so why did that have no effect?  You know what...I'm done with this.

The film ends with Dan and Alice in love.  They both make a wish in a fountain and briefly Alice see's Freddy's reflection in the water. Alice makes a wish which she doesn't tell Dan about because she wants it to come true. Finally, the end has come to this film.

So of corse the mirror thing really didn't do d*ck in a sense that Freddy returned in a better Part 5 to take possession of Alice's unborn child.  Then that led to Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare which had a ho-hum ending.  Then Freddy came back as a spirit in the oddly original New Nightmare.  And yes Freddy eventually fought it out with Jason.

Why did I decide to go into full detail with this film?  Fact is, Freddy is my all time favorite killer in movies.  I love his style, his humor and his methods for dispatching his victims.  I thought this movie was a virtual slap in the face to everything the franchise worked to establish in the first three films.  Nightmare part one was a ground breaking terror of a film.  Nightmare part two lacked in plot but still had it's moments.  Nightmare part three, like I said in the beginning of this review, was rich in plot and in style.

This film was horribly rushed in to and it shows.  Freddy by this point had become more of a comedic personality than a person to fear.  He was out hosting MTV shows which you can tell had some kind of influence in this movie.  This movie is the equivalent to an 80s flick like Can't Buy Me Love but with killing in it.  Another thing, why did the film totally give up on Krueger's mother?  She comes back in part 5 which gave that film a much better feel to it.  Oh and where did Alice's power to absorb her friend's talent come from?

The high point as always is Englund as Freddy.  He is rich in talent and no matter how crappy the plot line is, he always brings light to a film.  The special effects were also wonderfully done serving up some disturbing deaths.  As much as one could blame director Renny Harlin, you really can't.  If you give a man a bunch of crap he can't always make something good with it.  What the film obviously lacks in is plot.  It truly is a bunch of scenes thrown together for no rhyme or reason behind them.  Hey what can I say though, the movie was the top grossing in the chain with over 49 million made.  That equals a lot of disappointed people I imagine.

I dedicate this review to the memory of Freddy Krueger.  The only thing that kept me going in this film.
ITS THE INNARDS THAT COUNT (most gruesome/odd moments)
1.)
Better Get To The Vet - Jason the dog fire pisses on Freddy's grave which brings him back to life.  I wonder what dog poop would have done?

2.)
Pin Me Up - Joey finds himself dead when he mistakes Freddy for  a topless pin up model in his water bed. Something similar happened in part three.   Joey should just realize t*ts=trouble for him.

3.)
Breath In, Breathe Out - Freddy sucks the life out of Sheila while sucking face leaving her a shrillved up corpse.  Good thing for men Freddy isn't gay if you get my drift.

4.)
Soul to Soul - Freddy serves up what he calls "soul food" in the form of a pizza with his victim's souls as toppings.  Still, this pizza isn't nearly as gross as the one McDonald's use to serve.

5.)
Pass The Roach - Debbie gets turned into a roach, gets stuck in a roach motel which rips her face off and gets squished by Freddy.  I thought a death via Aqua Net was more fitting for this bimbo.
YOU'RE A GRAND OLD A-HOLE (the A-Hole of the film get their moment)
1.)
Freddy Krueger - Still burnt up and killing, I imagine Freddy discovered while working through this plot that there are much worse things to be known for than appearing in a Dokken video.
