In
the year of 1994 the band SIEBENBÜRGEN was formed by Marcus Ehlin (guitar, vocals)
and Anders Rosdahl (drums). A couple of months later Fredrik Brockert (bass)
joined the band. In February 1996, the band records SIEBENBÜRGEN, their first
demo, in Six String Studio. The demo contains 4 tracks: Vampyria, Blodspår I
Snön, …Om Hösten Död, Att Dricka Någons Blod. During a short period of time
the band had two guitarplayers, none of them had any serious talent. It seemed
as though the band had to manage with only one guitar. Finally SIEBENBÜRGEN
hooked up with Linus Ekström and things started to fall in place. Soon thereafter,
a series of live shows followed with bands like Bewitched, Sacramentum and In
Aeternum, to mention only but a few. In October 1996 (Halloween weekend), the
band records UNGENTUM PHARELIS, their second demo, in Studio Houdragonia. This
demo contains 4 tracks: Ungentum Pharelis, Ut Ur Graven, Morgataria, Nattens
Väv. The same year SIEBENBÜRGEN were able to land the deal that met with their
expectations. They soon accepted NAPALM RECORDS fair offer and joined their
ranks. In April 1997, the band records their debut release, LOREIA in Six String
Studio. The line up remained as on their second demo. The CD contains 10 tracks:
Vampyria, Nattens Väv, Mardröm, Ungentum Pharelis, Om Hösten Död, Loreia, Att
Dricka Någons Blod, Vittring Av Liv, Morgataria, Dödens Sömn. The band toured
Germany, together with Forbidden Site (FRA) and Menhir (GER). During January/February
1998, Siebenbürgen recorded their second album, GRIMJAUR, which was released
in May the same year. In July they went on tour again, this time with Atanatos
(GER) and Ragnarok (NOR). On both Demos, and the two first Albums, Lovisa Hallstedt
contributes with female vocals and violin. GRIMJAURwould be the last album for
her in SIEBENBÜRGEN. A search for a new female vocalist got under way and in
1999 they found Kicki Höjertz who sang in Left Hand Solution. With this newfound
singer they again went on tour, this time with Tristania (NOR), The Sins Of
Thy Beloved (NOR), Trail Of Tears (NOR) and Antichrisis (GER). A total of 18
gigs was played in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The
band spent a grueling 8 months in Six String Studio recording their third album
DELICTUM. It was released in 2000. The release contains 10 (11?) tracks: Delictum,
Majesties Infernal, Storms, Thou Blessed Be By Night, As of Sin, Levande Begravd,
Thy Sister Thee Crimson Wed, Opacitas (Queen of the Dark), A Dream of Scarlet
Nights, Oculus Malus. In Decemeber 1999, singer and guitarplayer Marcus Ehlin
decided to fully shift his focus to the vocals and a search for a new guitarist
ensued. Finally, after a vast ammount of rookies and loosers, Richard Bryngelsson
stepped up to the plate and accepted the challenge. After a four month break
after finishing DELICTUM the band started to write and rehearse material for
the new album. During this time it became more and more apparent that Linus
and Kicki (by this time lovers) were unhappy with their situation and the direction
that the band was taking. On May 12th 2001, in one of their rare appearances
upon Swedish soil, they took the stage at Club Nocturnal in Gothenburg together
with Dracena and Ancient. In June they once again entered Six String Studio
to record their fourth album, PLAGUED BE THY ANGEL. The tracklist includes:
Exordium, Plagued Be Thy Angel, Destination Supremacy, Father of All Lies, The
Night Alit, Angelic, For The Ones Who Sleep, Skändat Sinne, The Roses Bleed
at Night, As Black as a Midnight Heart, By Shadows Adored, Deliverance. Having
spent nearly 3 months in the studio recording and mixing the new material Linus
and Kicki announced that they were leaving the band due to personal and musical
differances [see offical statement]. In late September 2001 Fredrik Folkare
filled the vacant lead guitar spot, he was followed in October by vocalist Turid
Walderhaug. Siebenbürgen is the old europeean name for Transylvania.... The
saga continues...
