In 1999 Europe was again at war, in a major conflict for the third time in the twentieth century. Impressed with the sad news of the horrendous genocide taking place in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, my thoughts went back in time and I was reminded of the never 
to be forgotten and equally ghastly
period of the German slaughter of Jews of many
nationalities in Germany
during the Second World War 1939 to 1945.
Part of that latest cruel war I was there, imprisoned in a concentration camp, where direct destruction of human beings was undertaken under beastly and terribly humiliating conditions. In order not to let this knowledge disappear and go asunder in the course of the chronology of time, I decided to write these lines, particularly for my grandchildren and perhaps their children to read and know. |
