Violence protests erupt in suburban St. Louis after another black teen is fatally shot by a white police officer in Berkeley, MO.

It occurred about 5 mi NW of Ferguson.  The officer stumbled backward but fired three shots, one of which, struck the teen, according to St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.  Belmar said the teen, ID’d by authories as Antonio Martin, 18, was armed with a 9mm handgun.  Martin’s mother said her son did not have a gun and had only just left their home to see his GF.

By 7 a.m., the protesters had left Berkeley Mobil, while a few police officers remain, according to KSDK News.

Officers Wenjian Liu, who had just gotten married a few months back, and Rafael Ramos, were both sitting in a patrol car when they were ‘assassinated’ by a man who traveled from Baltimore.  A real thug, the killer tried to excuse his behavior by attaching what he did to the Brown homicide and subsequent protests, some chanting “A good cop is a dead cop.”  Some claim this activity and cases like this may discourage police from showing up.

Reuters: on the oficial KCNA news agency, an unnamed spokesman said there would be “grave consequences” if Washington refused to agree to a joint probe and continued to accuse Pyongyang.  Feds say N.Korea was behind the attack/threats.

AP: 141 dead, almost all of them students; many played dead.  Panic broke out when the shooting began.  “I saw children falling down who were crying and sceaming,” said Abdullah Jamal, one of the wounded students, in a group of eith, ninth and tenth graders getting first-aid instructions and training with a team of army medics.  Another student said they locked the door from the inside but the gunman blasted through anyway.  Personnel carriers were deployed, and a military helicopter circled overhead.

Taliban spokesman Mohammed Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming retribution for killing ‘our kids’; he advised the attackers not to hit ‘underaged children.’

USA Today: New York magazine duped by supposed millionaire teenager.  The magazine apologized Tuesday for publishing an article Sunday about a 17-year-old named Mohammed Islam, a Stuyvesant High School senior in NYC, claiming to be a stock trader worth in the high eight figures, rumored to be worth $72 mn.  In reality, the kid is a stock enthusiast, participating in simulated trades as part of an investment club.

AP—Anderson, IN: disabled girl, nearly 16, at 40 lbs., hospitalized; someone called for ambulance Mon.; 58-yr.-old grandfather and wife charged w. neglect of adependent.

In the affidavit, the grandfather says the girl hadn’t a medical exam in 3 yrs., and that he was unable to afford a “nutritional drink” for the child since Medicaid ran out a year ago.  He admits to locking the girl up in a room, with a space heater, blankets and oatmeal, where police found blood on the floor; he says the girl “was very strong,” sometimes weilding a knife, though a woman that lived in the house said the grandfather would sometimes drag the girl by the hair.  A 4-yr.-old who lives in the house says the girl stuck her fingers out of the door trying to get out.
