Saison 1
Return of Sinbad, Part 1
Sinbad: Excuse me, kind sir?but my companion and I are hungry.
Admir: Be off with you, peasant.
Dog: I told you he wouldn't help us.
Admir: Did that dog just talk ?
Sinbad: Yes. He and I often hold conversations.
Admir: And just how is it that you and your talking dog have fallen on such hard times ?
Sinbad: Well, it seems that in our absence the royal prince has passed a number of harsh laws.
Admir: You don't approve of these laws ?
Dog: I told you no politics, Master.
Admir: A friend of mine is to be married today. I'm looking for a unique gift. Is your dog for sale ?
Sinbad: I should say not, Sir !
Admir: I would offer gold pieces.
Sinbad: Absolutely not !
Admir: Fifty gold pieces.
Sinbad: I'm sorry, old friend, but I must eat.
Dog: Just for that, I'm never going to talk again !
Sinbad: He's stubborn enough to mean it, too !
Mustapha: Say something about my mother.
Man: She's ugly.
( Mustapha beats him up. )
Doubar: That's Mustapha. He's very much into keeping fit.
Mustapha: Say something about my mother.
Man: She dresses you funny.
Mustapha: Swine ! ( He beats him up. )
Doubar: Mustapha! Come. I want you to meet my brother, Sinbad.
Mustapha: The CAPTAIN Sinbad ?
Sinbad: The same.
Mustapha: It is a pleasure to meet you, sir. I hope someday we'll sail together.
Sinbad: Well, I'm sorry to dash your hopes, but I'm scheduled for a beheading today.
Mustapha: Oh well. Nice to meet you. ( He walks up to a prisoner. ) Say something about my mother.
Man: Lovely woman.
Mustapha: Thanks.
Casib: All been misunderstanding.
Sinbad: Sinbad, not understanding prince.
Casib: Trouble?my fault?princess gone.
Sinbad: Prince definitely needs a tutor.
Casib: Escort them to father. Give them food, drink?wedding.
Mustapha: We're invited to the wedding ?
Casib: Trouble. Please help.
Sinbad: Doubar, help prince get to father.
Doubar: Come, my prince. Papa's waiting !
Sinbad: Firouz, where are you ?
Firouz: Ha, yeah, ah ! Sinbad ! Help me put this together, will you ?
Sinbad: Nice seeing you again, too, Firouz.
Firouz: Hairspring?I must have brushed against it.
Sinbad: What is it ?
Firouz: I call it a hanging glider. It allows a man to fly?not like a bird flies, but rather, he glides. I have a scale model of it somewhere around here?ah and I'll show it to you in a moment. But first, I must reset the doorbell. Oh, good to see you again, Sinbad. I thought you were dead.
Sinbad: Actually, it's a pretty interesting story. You see, the ship, it broke apart?
Firouz: What do you think of this set up ? It's called a mechanized doorbell.
Doubar: There's a ring around the moon tonight.
Sinbad: A good oman.
Doubar: I always thought it was a bad oman.
Sinbad: No. It's good.
Doubar: Are you sure ?
Firouz: Sure about what ?
Sinbad: The ring around the moon.
Firouz: Actually, I have a theory that involves ice particles high in the air?
Sinbad: Is it a good or bad oman ?
Return of Sinbad, Part 2
Maeve: Don't move !
Sinbad: I wouldn't dream of it.
Maeve: All right, Dermott. He looks harmless enough now.
Sinbad: You talked to that bird. It listened to you.
Maeve: And why shouldn't he ? We both share the same home, he and I.
Sinbad: You can talk to dumb beasts ?
Maeve: Isn't that what I'm doing, right now ? If you were half as quick with your wits as you are with your sword, you would have realized he meant you no harm. He was just guarding his mistress.
Sinbad: I just wanted?
Maeve: Back off with you ! Tempt any trickery and Dermott will have your eyeballs in my hand before you have the time to blink !
Sinbad: I just wanted to?
Maeve: Oh, I know what you wanted, all right. I've seen the likes of you in my life before. Seafaring men arriving in big ships and taking over any land of people they choose?by force.
Sinbad: I just wanted to thank you for helping me.
Maeve: Oh. Well. Now, why didn't you just say that in the first place ? Have you not a tongue in your head ? Heaven knows what Master Dim-Dim has any use for you, but he sent me for you nonetheless. Come on.
Doubar: Where do you think you're going ?
Maeve: Where do you think ? To the ship. Now out of my way, Tubby !
Mustapha: Don't you know it's bad luck to have a woman aboard a ship ?
Maeve: It's bad luck to have idiots as well.
Mustapha: Say something about my mother.
Maeve: She raised a loud-mouth son.
( Mustapha pulled out his sword, then handed it to Rongar. He tries to flip Maeve, but she flipped him. )
Mustapha: Welcome aboard.
Maeve: Dermott doesn't much like you.
Sinbad: Well, the feeling's mutual.
Maeve: He doesn't care for men at all.
Sinbad: Oh, I like birds?if they're cooked properly.
Maeve: I have reading to do.
Sinbad: Well, I just thought that since we're supposed to have so much in common we should?
Maeve: In your dreams !
Maeve: You're the Captain what are you going to do ?
Sinbad: Well, why don't you send your bird out to distract it ?
Maeve: Dermott is a hawk ! He'll not serve as your personal sitting duck !
Sinbad: Well, why don't you cast a spell on it ?
Maeve: I need a spell the size of a tidal wave to stop that thing !
Sinbad: Hey, you're the magician.
Maeve: I'm a magician's apprentice ! I'm still learning !
Sinbad: Just do it.
( Maeve forms a fireball and throws it into the water. It doesn't do anything )
Sinbad: That's it ?
Maeve: It takes a lot of energy !
( She tries it again and hits the rock monster. It causes a few pieces of rock to fall. )
Sinbad: Dermott, trust me on this one.
( Sinbad spanks Maeve as she throws another one. Maeve curses him. Sinbad falls against the tiller and Maeve lands on him. She pulls away in disgust. )
Beast Within
Man: How about a kiss ?
Maeve: Why don't you close your eyes and pucker up ?
( Maeve punches him. )
Doubar: Some guys just don't know how to treat a lady.
Maeve: We have to set sail?now.
Doubar: But Maeve, we only just got here. Besides, we can't leave without Sinbad.
Maeve: Sinbad is in danger.
Doubar: Sinbad just strolled off. He'll be back in a minute.
Maeve: I'm taking the boat !
Doubar: The devil you are !
Maeve: We have no time for this !
Doubar: No woman will be piloting our ship in my lifetime !
Sinbad: I'd rather stand.
Rumina: Guards !
Sinbad: Well, I could take a load off my feet for a moment or two. All right, Rumina. I killed your father. Now, what do you intend to do with me ?
( She kisses him. )
Rumina: I want you to remain here?as my husband.
Sinbad: And if I refuse ?
Rumina: One way or the other, you will remain here. And don't expect your crew to rescue you. You're in the middle of nowhere with me. You must be famished. Eat.
Sinbad: What is this ?
Rumina: Baby crocodile brains.
Sinbad: No thanks. I'm trying to watch my weight.
Rumina: So, it's settled. We are betrothed. When would you like the official ceremony to take place ?
Sinbad: Rumina, you are definitely a beautiful woman. But, if, and when I marry, love has to enter the picture.
Rumina: You're so old-fashioned.
Sinbad: Nonetheless, I respectfully decline the offer.
Rumina: I could just cast a spell on you and make you marry me.
Sinbad: Too easy. Besides, then you wouldn't be marrying the real me.
Rumina: You're beginning to try my patience.
Sinbad: Why not try an apple instead ?
Maeve: There's danger here.
Doubar: Aye. I don't need magic to tell me this isn't a very friendly place.
Firouz: We should be okay if we keep our heads.
Maeve: And our voices down !
Maeve: If only all of Rumina's spells were so easy to break.
Sinbad: Rumina isn't all-powerful, Maeve. You proved that today.
Maeve: I did, didn't I ?
Sinbad: But you made a powerful enemy.
Maeve: Rumina's always been my enemy.
Sinbad: Maeve ? Is there something that I should know about all this ?
Maeve: Perhaps, Sinbad. Perhaps. But not today.
Sinbad: Well, ah, till then, my sorcerer's apprentice.
Still Life
Vincenzo: My name is Vincenzo. And this, this is my island. I see you've noticed my creations. I'm a sculptor. And whom do I have the pleasure of addressing ?
Maeve: My name is Maeve.
Vincenzo: Maeve. Striking name. An equally striking woman.
Maeve: And this is Rongar, Doubar, Firouz?and Sinbad.
( Sinbad gave her a look. )
Sinbad: There's something about that man I really don't like.
Maeve: He's sensitive, poetic, knows how to treat a woman with respect. Course, you don't like him.
( The crew is sitting at the table. Maeve enters and Doubar stares at her. Firouz taps Rongar on the shoulder, all the while not taking his eyes off her. When Sinbad notices, he is holding a piece of food in his hand, he drops it, not taking his eyes from Maeve. She walks over to the chair beside Sinbad. Vincenzo pushes it in for her and Sinbad stands up. Then, he sits down when she sits. )
Vincenzo: Everyone comfortable ? Hope everyone found what they needed.
Sinbad: Indeed. The servants are above and beyond the call of duty. The palace definitely gets four turbans.
Firouz: Point of fact, you have created a paradise on Earth.
Vincenzo: Maeve. You would do me a great honour if you allowed me to fashion one of my sculptures after you. I want to capture your radiance for all the ages. Although, I confess, I could never do it full justice.
Maeve: I don't know what to say.
Vincenzo: Well. Perhaps if you saw the rest of my work, that would put your mind at ease.
Maeve: I'd be honoured.
Sinbad: So would I. Vincenzo, I would love to see more of your artwork.
Maeve: All right, I admit this place is a little?odd. But I find Vincenzo to be a very sensitive, wonderful man. He appreciates the side of me that has been ignored by the likes of you, for a very long time.
Sinbad: Maeve, don't let his flattery go to your head. Nissam said something about the King and Queen. Now Vincenzo's done something to them.
Maeve: All right. Let's be sepulsive for one tiny moment, that you may be a little bit right. What would you like me to do ?
Sinbad: Distract him. I'm going to do a little exploring.
Doubar: So, ah, is this expedition of a professional interest, little brother ? Or are your feelings for Maeve colouring your judgment ?
Sinbad: I have no more feelings for her than for any other member of my crew. As Captain, I'm very concerned, naturally, when one of my crewmembers starts acting foolishly ! That's all !
Doubar: Naturally !
( Vincenzo touches Maeve and she turns to marble. Sinbad enters and sees Maeve. )
Sinbad: MAEVE ! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, VINCENZO !
Vincenzo: I don't think so.
Sinbad: You know, Maeve. I have to admit it's nice to have you back in your old self.
Maeve: You were really jealous of Vincenzo, weren't you ?
Sinbad: I was just concerned about your safety?that's all.
Maeve: Oh, come on. Why don't you just admit it ?
Sinbad: I'll admit no such thing.
The Ronin
Doubar: Firouz, why don't you give your whirli-mecallit to somebody else ?
Firouz: To be a genius is to be misunderstood.
Maeve: I think you hurt Firouz's feelings.
Doubar: Well, his last invention nearly cost me my beard ! Solar-powered hair trimmer. Nearly turned my head into a torch !
Sinbad: What am I supposed to do in this arena ?
Kalel: You know, a little of this, a little of that. Basically, just win.
Sinbad: I used to be a pretty good wrestler. What's the harm ?
Doubar: I don't know, but I'm sure we're going to find out.
Sinbad: Oh, Doubar.
Kalel: Trust me.
Sinbad: Well, I think I could manage one little match.
Kalel: And one huge fortune. Now get in there, Sailor, and show them what you're made out of !
Kalel: Congratulations ! You just made us a fortune !
Sinbad: Kalel !
Maeve: How long have you known this ?
Kalel: Politician, and any friend of Sinbad's.
( Dermott chirps. )
Kalel: Is that your pet, or are you carrying your lunch ?
Sinbad: Kalel !
Kalel: What ? Why the long face ? Now, come on. Admit it. Aren't you glad you accepted my invitation ?
Doubar: Brother.
Sinbad: Would you mind telling me exactly what's going on here ?
Kalel: Not now. Are you rested ?
Sinbad: Sure. After causing a man to plummet to his death in a well, I feel really refreshed.
Doubar: Where do you think you're going ?
Maeve: I just want to stretch my legs a little. ( She leaves. )
( Dermott chirps. )
Doubar: What? Now pipe down! I'm trying to eat.
( Dermott chirps. )
Doubar: She's a big girl. She can take care of herself. She's only going for a walk, right ? Right ?
( Dermott chirps. )
Doubar: She'll be fine. She's not going to get into any trouble.
Firouz: Undoubtedly.
Doubar: The heck with it. You watch her bird. I'm going to stretch my legs. ( He leaves. )
( Rongar gets up. )
Firouz: Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. I'll entertain the bird.
( Rongar leaves. )
Sinbad: I'm just trying to make the best of a really bad situation. There's an old saying in my country. If you're skating on thin ice, you might as well dance.
Tetsu: I did not know you had ice in your country.
Sinbad: I don't. I lied.
Tetsu: I sense you are a complicated man.
Sinbad: And a thirsty one.
Guard: What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this ?
Maeve: Listening to dribble, apparently. I'm here to see the great warlord, Kattah.
Guard: He's busy. He can't be disturbed. Anyway, why don't you spend a little time with us ? I bet I know what's in that bottle.
Guard: A party waiting to happen !
Maeve: Sod off, you huge dwelling squints.
Guard: I like a girl with spirit. Makes my blood boil.
Maeve: Really. Well, percolate away, short, dark, and ugly. ( She send fire to the guards' feet. ) Are we boiling, yet ?
Kattah: What's going on out here ?
( Maeve stops the fire. )
Maeve: Oh, my lord. These evil men were about to do me great harm.
Kattah: They are no more, my fair one. These men are supposed to protect me from spies and assassins.
Tetsu: I ran and became a Ronin. A warrior without a master. He vowed to catch me. And my head upon his castle wall. I escaped to the sea. I was lost in a storm.
( Sinbad sees a rainbow bracelet on Tetsu's wrist. )
Sinbad: Let me guess. You awoke a stranger in a strange land, with no recollection of how you got there. You found yourself wearing a new piece of jewelry.
Tetsu: How did you know ?
Sinbad: It seems we're part of the same club. ( He points to his bracelet and Tetsu looks at his. )
Firouz: And we only have tonight to figure out how to fight the power of the sword !
( Rongar holds up the whirligig. )
Firouz: It's a very pretty toy, Rongar.
( Rongar pokes the whirligig into Firouz's chest. )
Doubar: Have you lost your wits, lad ?
Firouz: No. He not only has his wits, he's found a solution. Let's go, friends ! I feel a brainstorm coming on ! Come on ! Oh, my sword. ( He picks up his sword. ) Come on, let's moor the boat. I think I have a solution.
Sinbad: Where's Tetsu ?
Tetsu: Here, Sinbad !
Maeve: Well, you look every inch the sailor.
Doubar: Don't worry about the clothes. They'll shrink.
Sinbad: There's your first ship, Captain. It's not much, but it's a start. Enough supplies for two weeks.
Tetsu: I thank you, Sinbad.
Sinbad: My pleasure, friend. Tetsu the Warrior has earned an honourable death. Now, Tetsu the Sailor will sail the seven seas, as he dreamed.
Tetsu: How'd you fool all those people ?
Firouz: Ah, you died an honourable death, Sir. Ah, Sinbad's aim was true. He struck you in the heart. But, your heart was stronger than the knife.
Little Miss Magic
( Firouz is playing the recorder and Rongar the harp. Doubar is singing with Maeve. )
Doubar: Speed bonny boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry
Carry the lad that's born to be King
O'er the sea to Skye
Loud the wind howls, loud the waves roar
Thunderclaps rend the air
Baffled, our foes stand on the shore
Follow they did not dare
Maeve: Oh, speed bonny boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward the sailors cry
Doubar: Carry the lad that's thought to be King
Maeve: Over the sea to sky
( Sinbad tied the tiller up, so he could come closer and enjoy the singing. )
Maeve: Do you have any idea where we are ?
Sinbad: No. But we have to make repairs, and we can't do that at sea.
Maeve: I'm not sure I like this.
Sinbad: You say that every time we make an uncharted stop.
Maeve: Yeah, and with good reason.
Firouz: We started to worry when you didn't come back last night.
Sinbad: Last night ? But I've only been gone a few hours.
Firouz: Sinbad. You've been gone for a whole day.
Maeve: What's going on ?
Sinbad: You see, there was this bet?
Maeve: I'm not sure I wanna hear this.
Doubar: Sinbad. Aren't you going to introduce us to your little friend ?
Serindib: I'm Serendib.
Firouz: Pleasure to meet you, my dear. I'm Firouz.
Sinbad: What ?
Firouz: I was just admiring your?your sense of purpose. You just led us through a maze without any doubt whatsoever.
Sinbad: Is that what it looked like to you ? Should've been an actor.
Firouz: Why do you say that ?
Sinbad: Because most of the time, my sense of purpose amounts to the feeling, gee, I wonder what would happen if I tried this. It's amazing what you accomplish that way.
Firouz: I can't believe that, with all your years at sea, your previous adventures, that anything could surprise you.
Sinbad: I'm surprised every day, Firouz. It's half the fun of living.
Firouz: And the other half ?
Sinbad: Wondering what's gonna surprise me next.
Sinbad: Now let's proceed with the plan.
Doubar: We have a plan ?
Sinbad: Certainly. We find Serendib, rescue her, repair the ship, and sail away.
Doubar: Not one of his more detailed plans, but you get the general idea.
Doubar: What's this? ( He takes the mirror from Firouz and looks in it. He begins playing around with his mustache. )
Firouz: Ah, please.
Sinbad: Doubar ? Admire your beauty another time.
Maeve: A mirror. ( She takes it and look at herself. )
Firouz: Yes.
Sinbad: What do you want ?
Rumina: Sinbad. So blunt. Where's your light and romantic touch ?
Sinbad: Well, I'd like to buy you dinner sometime, but this doesn't seem like the time or place.
Rumina: Oh, you don't like my little city ?
Sinbad: I guess I've only seen the depressed sections of town.
Rumina: Well, I rather like it.
Sinbad: You see ? We're a bad match. We just don't agree on anything.
( Serendib laughs. )
Rumina: Shut up, dear !
Rumina: Serendib is my protegee. I?I couldn't possibly give her up?unless?
Sinbad: Unless what ?
Rumina: Unless I was to receive something in exchange.
Firouz: We're stranded sailors. We've nothing but what we carry, and our damaged ship.
Sinbad: I think I know what Rumina wants. Or shall I say who ?
Maeve: What are you talking about ?
Sinbad: I'll trade myself for Serendib's freedom.
Firouz: Don't trust her, Sinbad !
Sinbad: What do you say, Rumina ? I'm the one you really want.
Rumina: Would I have your word of honour ?
Sinbad: My life, for Serendib's.
Rumina: Done. Our daughter will be even more powerful. And our son, unstoppable.
Sinbad: Don't be too shy about saving me, okay ?
Rumina: Arooka, masashay, mooray?
Sinbad: You know, you're beautiful when you're conjuring. ( He kisses Rumina. )
Rumina: Sinbad, there'll be plenty of time for that later. But first?
( Sinbad kisses her again and the City of Mist builds up again. )
Ishmal: What kind of magic is this ?
Rumina: I should've known better, Sinbad ! This isn't going to make things any easier for you. Now, I'll finish the city once and for all. Sashay, sashay, sashay?
( Sinbad laughs when the city doesn't begin to shake. )
Sinbad: Looks like your spell's a little too pooped to pop.
King Firouz
( Dermott lands on Firouz's invention. )
Firouz: Dermott ! Dermott ! Off my Beamer. Immediately !
Firouz: Oh, no !
Doubar: Seems like Dermott's not too impressed with your invention, Firouz.
Sinbad: Your majesty. ( He kisses her hand. ) I am Captain Sinbad. Your every wish is my command. Some wine, your majesty ?
Elila: Yes?if it were served to me by Firouz.
Firouz: They may act a little strange, but think of the heartache they've been through. Poor princess, losing both her mother and her father.
Sinbad: She didn't seem overly heartbroken to me. Firouz, something is very wrong here.
Maeve: For once, Firouz, he's right. The spirits tell me there's danger.
Firouz: Spirits are vindictive creatures. They've always disliked me. At least science seems to make magic dissolve.
Maeve: No. No, that's not it. Not at all !
Firouz: In the future, magic will retreat to the shadows. Science and reason will rule.
Doubar: Ah. Tired of the ceremony ?
Maeve: It's a bit too rich for my blood. We've got a trip to take.
Doubar: Well, not without Sinbad, we don't.
Maeve: Ah, it was his idea. He wants us to go to Marzoss and do a little bit of spying.
Doubar: Oh ? Sounds risky. What are we waiting for ?
Sinbad: So this is how you use your time, Firouz.
Firouz: If you're waiting for me to invent the door, Sinbad?
Sinbad: I know. Somebody beat you to it. What is all this ?
Firouz: Could you pass me that flask ?
Firouz: You could have just blown up this entire room !
Sinbad: And you may just blow up an entire kingdom.
Firouz: I serve my princess, who at least appreciates me.
Sinbad: Your princess is using you, Firouz. She's not interested in your mind. Just your ability to create weapons.
Firouz: I never thought I'd see the day when Sinbad would be jealous of a friend.
Sinbad: They killed Moren, Firouz. This whole spy mission was a lie.
Firouz: I can understand your anger. For the first time, people are looking at me to be the hero. Not you. They turn to me for protection, not you.
Sinbad: Firouz, look at me. Have I ever lied to you ?
Firouz: Stop it ! You're confusing me !
( Azul throws one of Firouz's things that have sleeping gas. )
Firouz: Maeve !
Azul: Guards ! Take her away ! She was obviously recruited by the leaders in Marzoss.
Firouz: A traitor. Maeve ? That?that doesn't make any sense.
Azul: My friend, war can turn anyone into an enemy.
Doubar: Well, look who decided to join us.
Sinbad: Nice here this time of year. ( He slips off the small ledge. )
Maeve: Sinbad !
( A rock falls into the hole. )
Sinbad: Did you hear that hit bottom ?
Doubar: No.
Sinbad: What is that ?
Doubar: Some place I don't want to end up. Can you do anything about these chains, Maeve ?
Maeve: Frasa, Guardian of Iron, reduce the power of these chains?
( The chains suddenly pull into the wall. )
Sinbad: Well, I'm impressed.
Maeve: It must be?you know?the sleep gas they used on me. My head aches. I can't concentrate. Really.
( The chains release their arms. )
Doubar: Did you do that, Maeve ?
Maeve: I don't think so?
( Harus enters the room with Dermott. )
Harus: I did. Your feathered friend brought me. I pulled the release lever.
Sinbad: But I thought that?
Harus: I was crazy ? No. That was an act so Azul wouldn't kill me too.
Elila: Did I neglect to tell you that Corusarian mothers teach their daughters knife-throwing ? It keeps their men in line !
Firouz: Actually, you neglected to tell me that point, but I?ah?I do understand women's rights !
( Sinbad and the crew enters. Sinbad throws one of the sleeping gas at Elila, which makes her collapse. )
Firouz: Sinbad !
Sinbad: Oh, you know, oh, great Firouz, maybe a long sea voyage will cure all your illness.
Firouz: Point of fact ??You're absolutely right.
