Ngorongoro |
Jon likes pictures that tell him for sure where he was. |
Ngoronogoro is a caldera, formed by the collapse of a volcanic cone. With a diameter of 10 miles, it is the largest intact caldera in the world. It is also an awesome habitat for thousands of animals. |
This was the view from the balcony of our room on the rim. |
The lodge we stayed in was designed to blend in with the landscape. The rooms were comfortable and attractive. |
Ngoronogoro is a popular tourist destination, and the animals have grown accustomed to safari vehicles. Some will permit you to come quite close. And others will come to you! |
"Hi, folks! Having a nice safari?" |
"Wanna move to the shade?" |
"This looks like a good spot." |
"Very nice! I think I'll take a little nap." |
Ngorongoro isn't just about lions. But you'll have to go to another page to see the other animals. There's also a beautiful Ngorongoro sunrise. |
