| Arusha |
| After 16 hours in the air, we checked into the Mountain Village near Arusha. For 36 hours we did nothing but sleep (under mosquito netting), eat (great food!), drink (local beer, of course), and enjoy the scenery. |
| We spent our second day in Tanzania touring Arusha National Park in a modified Land Cruiser with our terrific driver/guide, Leekey. |

| Jon especially loved the giraffes. We call these the three amigos. |

| Cynthia liked the baboons, too, but they didn't appeal to Jon. |
 |
| We saw lots of flamingos and other water fowl, but our camera couldn't capture them. The elephants hid from us that day, but we saw plenty of them later at Lake Manyara. |
| We did some bird-watching and enjoyed the antics of the vervet monkeys that live on the grounds. |
