While speculation abides on Sal's Attic Message Board on whether or not it is too late for Ty to release an Attic for the celebrations; some are holding out till December 31, 2002 in hopes of seeing a jointed Anniversary Bear in the Attic Line. While others have given up all hope. I had given up all hope until the release of Ted-E; I was almost certain something is going to come out in the way of an Anniversary Attic when I saw it's release. We thought Ty was done with Teddy and Teddybearsary, then came Ted-E, what's next? Only Ty & God knows and we can only wait & imagine.

With Ty's latest massive retirements, which has now left only 11 Attic Treasures Current, 3 of them being exclusive to outside the USA, one has to wonder what Ty has in store for the Attic Treasure line. This has collectors wondering and worried if ty is going to scrap our save this line. Lately, Ty has peaked interest in the line with new and innovative designs and fabrics, but he has been releasing fewer and fewer of them. Retailers are not ordering them as much anymore and many people are finding themselves hard-pressed to even get the latest Mother's Day and Father's Day Attics.
I for one have becomed a very dissapointed Attic collector. With some retailers giving up on the line and Ty seeming to throw in the towel maybe Ty will still suprise us with a 100th Anniversary Attic Bear. For the Attic was a stepping stone to Beanies, and the teddy bear is what made him so famous. Then again, he may choose not to. I guess we will have to just wait and see. You never know with Ty. We always have to "Expect the Unexpected."
Maybe what Ty needs to do is in fact scrap the line. Many Attic enthusiasts would encourage this if something better would come out of it. Mohair Attic Treasures. These items would be more expensive, but in today's innovative world, companies have found ways of mixing Mohair and Acrylic together to make for a more affordable product. Boyds Bears has done this for years. And why shouldn't Ty? I believe Ty has shown his admiration for Boyds bears when he released Dad Attic Treasure. This bear looks incredibly like a Boyds bear. Maybe he sees that many Attic Collctors favor the Boyds type bear as well. And many do.
There is one other solution to the problem--besides getting rid of Attics altogether and starting a new Mohair line. Continue making Attics the way he does, so the inexpensive but high quality products Attic lovers prize so highly can continue. But also make an addition to the line. A Limited Edition line, a mohair line, something to REALLY peak interest in all Ty Collectors. I can bet you that stores would be scrambling for these bears if done properly. They do not need to be obscenely expensive like Steiff bears, but something rich, something new and exciting, Ty needs to become more variant in the Attic Line, and not stick to $5.00 models only, $10.00, $15.00, $20.00, $30.00, $35.00, and $50.00 models can be made. And the sky is the limit after that. My point is, ty needs to explore new realms of possibility. A reengineering of his Attic and Classic lines if you will.
I see great promise if Ty takes the proper steps to reenergize the line. I for one have always invisioned many designs/ideas of my own, and know those will never come to fruition but the underlying idea can. To REALLY, ENTHUSIASTICALLY give a real boost to the Attic Line, bringing back the name ATTIC TREASURES to be synonymous with what they originally meant (Or at least what I thought they were supposed to mean.) "To look like you found them up in Grandmother's Attic, as if they had been hers, and maybe even her mother's before her." Some old-fashoined reengineering needs to be done here if this Attic Collector is to stay collecting what he fell in love with so many years ago.
