Ty Authenticity
The only true way to reassure yourself that your Beanie in question is authentic is to go through one of the following highly regarded authentication services.
Becky Estenssoro of True Blue Beans
Peggy Gallagher of Beanie Phenomenon
Becky Phillips of pbbags.com
The following tips are to help you avoid buying counterfeit Beanies.
Do Ask if the dealer can guarentee authenticity, if not leave immediately.
Do Ask if the dealer will refund your money if the Beanie in question is found to be a fake by a professional.
If you feel the price is too good to be true, then it probably is.
Do Ask if the dealer is knowledgeable in Ty products.
Do Ask where the Beanie came from.
Do Compare the Beanie in question with one you already know that is real.
Do Examine the Hang and Tush Tag.
Do Get to know the dealer, and earn their trust, they may become more forthcoming with pertinent information.
Look at and feel the material.  It should be of the utmost quality.
Do Check the fillers and stuffing in Beanies, it should not be too overstuffed or too under stuffed.  Beanies often times are regulated very well, this should not happen, but on occasion it does.
Do Check the stuffing in a Beanie Bear's head, the head should not be excessively firm!  It'd be best to compare the Beanie Bear in question with a similar Beanie Bear of that time.
Do Look for irregularities, ex: Box shaped ears on a Beanie Bear, an oversized Beanie Bear head, close together eyes on a Beanie Bear.  Sometimes oddities occur, but you cannot be totally sure if it is authentic unless purchased from a Ty Authorized dealer, or authenticated by a major beanie authentication company.
Do Ask if the store in which you are buying from is a Ty Retailer.  Beanies Babies should sell around $5-7 US, Beanie Buddies should sell around $10 US, unless in the Large Buddy size $30 US, Extra Large Buddy size $50 US, or Jumbo Buddy size $100 US.
