The changeover between yellow and grey/white reflective material
apparently took place somewhere between the C3 and C7 series.

most of its yellow scotchlite, but it's extremely fragile- handling it
can make it crumble off. |

While passenger

for the mid-'70s,
combination
plates
remained
like this. |

Mid 1970s revalidated to
1988.
Several changes were made around this time. First, about halfway
through the CO- series, the layout was changed similar to the plates
below - with 'Connecticut' in smaller letters centered between the
lower bolt holes. However, there was no legend at the top - just a
large blank space.

1981,
but actually about a year older
than CR-2722
The dies
are narrower,
and the dot is
smaller on this
older plate. The 'Combination' legend was introduced with the CP-
series, making the slogan-less CO- series tough to find.

CZ-9999 was

The
C-10000 series only lasted about 2 years. Next came 5-digit all-numeric
plates. These lasted about 3 years before 99999 was reached in 1985. |

with temporary decal.
This plate would have been issued in late 1997 with this temporary
decal. Upon expiration of the temporary decal, the plate would get a
normal 2-year July 1999 decal.
|
1998
After
reaching 999-CZZ
in 1996, the 1'C'-0001 series was introduced. Breaking with tradition,
lead zeroes were used after the dot in the serial, starting at -0001
instead
of -1000.
If you're wondering why this plate has a lower number than the 1997
shown to the left yet has a later decal, it is because this plate
received it's 2-year decal upon issuance - so this plate was issued
sometime in 1996 with the '98 decal. The plate to the left was issued
in '97 with a '97 temp decal.

These now have the 'COMB' legend embossed on the

2001
After
9C-9999 was
reached, the 'C' was bumped over a space, and the 10'C'-001 format
started.
These ran until the new reflective base started in 2000. I'm not
certain
that they reached 99C-999 on this base. Plates up to 93C- have been
verified,
but not much higher. |
Early
1980s Combination Vanity used until the general re-issue.
