Canada�s Adam Van Koeverden notches sixth World Cup paddling victory

GERARDMER, France- Adam Van Koeverden of Oakville, Ont., remained undefeated this season in the Olympic kayak singles events on the World Cup paddling circuit following Saturday�s victory in the men�s 500-metre race.

Van Koeverden, the 500 champion and 1,000 bronze medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics,  has won the 500 and 1,000-metre races at all three stops on the circuit this season.

In Saturday�s K-1 500, Van Koeverden took the gold in 1:39.885 with Anders Gustafsson of Sweden second at 1:40.200 and Tim Brabants of Britain third at 1:40.510.

Mark Oldershaw of Burlington, Ont., is also enjoying a great season on the World Cup.  He collected a fifth medal Saturday placing third in the canoe singles 500 in 1:50.953.  Multiple world and Olympic champion Andreas Dittmer led Germany to a 1-2 finish clocking 1:50.443 with Sebastian Brendel second in 1:50.648.

In Friday�s 1,000 metre finals, Van Koeverden won gold and Oldershaw took silver.
