| Having been one of the less notable signings for Marítimo this summer Manduca, who was expected to be a back-up player, has quickly adapted and forced his way into the verde-rubros first team.
In his first three competitive games for the club, the left winger has impressed not only the management but also the fans. He was the only real performer in Marítimo’s disastrous opening day defeat (3-0) away to Belenenses, and had an excellent game against Penafiel. His crowning moment though was in Marítimo’s UEFA Cup first round match against Glasgow Rangers. Usually a left winger, Manduca was played up front as Marítimo’s only striker, in place of the ineligible Bibishkov.
