| Marítimo's first home game of the season sees the visit of Superliga new-boys Penafiel today. With former Benfica and Porto players Drulovic, Aguiar and Clayton in their squad, it will be an interesting and challenging game for the verde-rubros, the last before the visit of Glasgow Rangers this coming Thursday. With Marítimo’s disappointing result on the opening day (3-0 loss to Belenenses) Penafiel didn’t fare much better having lost 4-1 to Vitória Setúbal, another newly promoted team. In reality this should be a win for Marítimo, with the history of this fixture lucking favourable to the verde-rubros. In seven meetings previously, Marítimo have won six and drawn just one, with out losing a single game. With a tally of ten goals scored by Marítimo, and only two conceded, the verde-rubros seem to have never really been troubled by the northern club. Marítimo's latest signing, Brazilian striker Pena will be in the squad, as will Bulgarian Under 21 |

The new manager will be using new tactics, the traditional 4x4x2 formation, with a pressing tactic, in a bid to unsettle the oppositions’ players.
