| Joel Santos started his career in the lower clubs of Madeira, before signing for Marítimo’s rivals Nacional da Madeira. However he failed to make a real impact in the team, and so returned to Câmara de Lobos for a second spell.
After playing some superb football, Joel Santos was spotted by Marítimo manager Nelo Vingada and was signed up during the 1999/2000 season. The Madeiran-born player has had to compete with a number of players for his favoured right midfield position, including Alan and now Luís Filipe, but he had a fantastic 2002/2003 season Joel and was rewarded with an international call up to the Portugal B team, along with Zeca. Joel's excellent crossing ability and dribbling skills make him an asset to the A team. |
