Chapter
Eight
i don’t know
you
and i don’t want to
till the moment your eyes open
and you know
Adriana
rolled over groggily. Her arm draped
across Aaron’s stomach, and the sheet fell to their waists. She fully planned on falling right back
asleep, but Aaron began to tickle the palm of her hand. She lifted her head and glared at him. “What do you think you’re doing?” she asked,
trying to sound menacing. She hid a
yawn.
He grinned
at her. “Bothering
you.”
“Stop.” She turned her head in the other direction
and closed her eyes. A minute later she
felt a light breeze on her neck. Her
eyes opened and she lifted her head again.
“Will you cut it out?! I’m so
tired!”
Aaron
laughed. “I’m trying to get you to wake
up. You guys leave tomorrow afternoon.”
“Tomorrow
is not for twenty-four hours, and if you don’t mind, I’d prefer to use those
twenty-four hours to sleep, thank you.”
Aaron
leaned close to her ear. “I can think of
better ways to spend it.”
She rolled
over and looked at him, finding herself centimeters from his face. She pecked him on the lips. “No,” she said and rolled back over.
Aaron
laughed. “Come onnn,” he whined. “I wanna do
something today.”
“I wanna do
something today, too,” she said, her voice muffled by her pillow. “SLEEP!”
Aaron
stood up and pulled on a pair of boxers and a T-shirt. There was a knock at the door. Glancing at the clock, he grinned. “Right on time,” he muttered.
He opened
the door. “Will you help me please?” he
said quietly to Taegan.
Taegan
grinned. “Close your eyes,” she
whispered to Michael, who gave her a look but obliged. She went over to
Adriana.
“Addy!’
she screamed in her friend’s ear.
Adriana sat bolt upright and then screamed, wrapping a sheet around
herself.
“Jesus
Christ! Taegan Aislinn O’Reilly! Don’t you sneak up on me like that!”
“Don’t you
middle name me, Adriana Merideth Cruz.”
“Ugh.” Taegan stuck her tongue out and stepped
away. Adriana laughed. Making sure the sheet was securely wrapped
around her, she stood up. Taking a look
at Michael, who still had his eyes closed, she laughed. “It’s quite safe, now, Michael,” she said. He opened one eye and then the other. Adriana waddled over to her suitcase, as it
is quite hard to walk with a sheet dragging all over the floor. She grabbed some clothes and Taegan’s arm and
went into the bathroom.
“Addy, I
don’t want to see you naked. I saw you
that one time we decided to go skinny dipping at the Y and nearly got arrested,
but I really don’t need to see it now, and especially fresh after sex.”
“Oh shut
up.”
“If you’re
going to be a bitch I’m going to leave.”
“I have a
bone to pick with you,” Adriana said.
“And I’m going to shower, so you can feel safe about staying in here
while I’m naked, as I will be behind the glass.
I don’t know what your problem is about that anyway.”
Taegan
mumbled an answer that wasn’t actually an answer, just noise. She closed her eyes while Adriana dropped the
sheet and climbed into the shower.
“What’s this bone you have to pick with me?” she asked.
“How long
have you been sleeping with Michael?” Adriana asked loudly as the shower went
on.
Taegan
blushed. “Oh.”
“Yeah. Oh.”
“Three
days. Wait, are we counting my stunning
show of intelligence when I was drunk? Because if we are, I suppose four days. Not counting the days in between. If we’re counting the days in between–”
“I get
it.”
“Sorry.”
“When were
you planning on telling me this?”
Taegan
blushed even though Adriana couldn’t see her.
“I’m sorry. You were so busy with
Aaron, and I barely saw you.”
“You
should have called me. Taeg, I will
always make time for you, no matter what I’m doing.”
“Or who
you’re doing?”
Adriana
laughed. “Or who I’m
doing. Unless I’m
in the middle of something. Like
sex.”
“Well, I’m
not going to pull you away from Aaron just to tell you that I made up with
Michael and we fuck like you and Aaron.”
“Taegan! You don’t swear.”
“I know, I
know. And we don’t really ‘fuck’
anyway.” Taegan sighed. “He’s gorgeous. And sweet. And Jesus I love him.”
“Did you
tell him?”
“Yes. When I finally had that
talk with him. I told him.”
Adriana
poked her head out of the shower. “And?” Taegan
grinned. Adriana grinned back before
going back behind the door. “So you go
at it like there’s no tomorrow, eh?”
“We
certainly do. I told you I would. But it’s just really...nice. Like, he’s really gentle. Except once.”
“Oh, spare
me the details!” The water turned
off. “Hand me that towel, would you?”
Taegan
obliged. “What are we going to do?”
“Go to the
“I mean
tomorrow.”
There was
silence. “The panties? And bra? Please?”
Taegan
handed Adriana her underwear. “Did you
know that Michael wears Ian Thorpe underwear?”
Adriana
stepped out of the shower. “You’re
joking.”
“Nope. I nearly died when I saw it. He couldn’t understand what was so funny, but
it nearly ruined the mood.”
“When was
this?”
“When we
were going to do it in our room and you and Aaron nearly gave me a heart attack
when I went to open the door. We went
back to his room and we were all getting undressed and stuff and he took off
his pants and I collapsed from laughing.
Luckily I think it’s really hot that he wears IT underwear so it wasn’t
a big deal. And then he told me later –
luckily it was later or I never would have recovered – that he gets them free
from The Man.”
Adriana
laughed. “Wow. You have a cheap boyfriend.”
“Hey, I
like that he wears Ian’s underwear.”
There was a pause. “That sounded
so bad. I will never say that again.”
“Very good idea.”
Taegan
nodded. “I think so.”
Adriana
pulled her shorts up and yanked on a tank top.
She sighed and sat on the counter of the sink, next to Taegan. “What will we do?”
“I don’t
know.”
The girls
heaved identical sighs. “Shall we go?”
“Yes, I
think I’d like a run on the tea cups. And then phenomenal Last Night Sex.”
Adriana
nodded. “Sounds like a fantastic idea.”
Both girls
hopped off the counter and went into the room.
Aaron and Michael looked up from whatever conversation they’d been
having.
“Her
hair’s not wet,” Aaron said.
“I know,
but you never know,” Michael replied.
Taegan and
Adriana looked at each other. The boys
were speaking in hushed tones, but they obviously didn’t know what a hushed
tone was, as the girls could hear them clearly.
“We did not shower together.” Taegan said, sitting next to Michael on
the bed and putting her hand on his leg.
“Sorry to disappoint.”
Adriana
sat next to Aaron and put her head on his shoulder. “Now that you’ve got me up, and I’m dressed,
let’s go do something. I feel like
Teacups,” she said.
