A Polka Dot Type of Guy

“No way.”

“Why not?”

Dom gave his friend a dubious look. “Are you kidding?”

Elijah frowned, looking down at the shirt he was holding up against his chest. “No. What’s wrong with it?”

Dom put a jacket back on a rack and turned to fully face Elijah. “Lij, you’ve got eyes. Use them.”

Confused, Elijah looked down at the chosen shirt, and then looked back up at Dom, shrugging. “It looks fine to me.”

“It’s polka dots.”

“Yeah?”

“Pink polka dots,” Dom elaborated, giving Elijah a concerned look. “You’ve been out in the sun too long, haven’t you? Are you dehydrated?”

Elijah shoved the offending shirt back onto the rack from which it came and eyed Dom angrily. “I thought it would fit me.”

“If you’re Carson Kressley, then yes, it would.”

Elijah huffed out a breath. “Maybe I should have brought HIM shopping instead of you.”

Dom turned back to the jackets. “Sure. Next time give him a ring instead. I’m sure he’d be happy to put you in a pink polka dotted shirt. That’s in the women’s section.”

Elijah’s eyes widened and he glanced around to where he’d found The Shirt. A sign overhead said “Women’s” and Elijah quickly side-stepped under the “Men’s” sign, beside Dom, who held back large guffaws of laughter.

“What do you think of this sea foam green?” Dom questioned, as if Elijah hadn’t just made a fool out of himself.

Elijah made a face. “Nix it. It’ll do nothing for your coloring.”

“You’re right,” Dom replied easily, shifting around to another rack. “I think I’m more a pink polka dot type of man, don’t you?”

He gave Dom his best glare, but Dom didn’t seem to notice. “You could probably pull off a woman’s shirt,” Elijah admitted ruefully.

“Yes, it has happened before.”

“What?” Elijah said, sounding surprised.

“Women’s clothes are so lovely. They’re fitted and they come in such pretty colors.” Dom thumbed through some dark blue t-shirts. “I saw one yesterday that said ‘Boys Suck’ and I thought that would be really fitting.”

“Don’t tell me you bought it?” Elijah was incredulous.

“Of course not. It’d be too ironic.” Dom flashed Elijah a cheeky grin before looping his arm through Elijah’s and trudging from the store. “I thought something along the lines of ‘I Love Me’ was more appropriate.”

Elijah chuckled. “Yeah, that sounds about right.”
