I woke up later that night. "Owe." I said. "Owe is right, you were in quite an accident Forever." Someone said. "Feels like it. Um, I don't mean to worry you, but I can't see so well." I said. "That'll go away in a few days at most. You suffered some head trauma from hitting your steering wheel." The person said. "Comforting." I said. "We've got a few people here to take you home. You're lucky you have gotten off with just a broken leg, and some cuts and burses. If I were you I'd look into getting an air bag." He said. "Thank you, I will. Could you send whosever here in?" I asked. "Sure." He said. I heard him leave. Soon the door opened, and I heard voices. "Oh my god! You scared us so badly!" Hannah said hugging me. "Who's all here?" I asked. "Everyone." Billy said. "Are you ok?" I heard Lij ask. "I've been better." I said. "So Billy, you're here to take me home?" I asked. "Yea, and everyone is going to come over, and hang out. Are you ready to go?" He asked. "So ready!" I said. "We have crutches for you to use when you can see, and a wheel chair for you now." Hannah said. "Good lord." I mumbled. Billy patted my shoulder. "It's ok Little Girl, you wont have to use it for long." He said. "I hope you're right." I said.
I sat up, and walked over to the chair with Billy, and Hannah's help. "So what happened?" Dom asked. "I was at a stop light, the guy turned too fast, and plowed straight into me. I don't remember anything else, I hit my head on the steering wheel because I don't have air bags." I said. "Owe." He said. "Yea, my words exactly." I said. "Sorry I ruined your party Hannah." I said. "Not a problem, I'll just steal a pair of your shoes and we'll be even." She joked. "Fair enough, but only ugly ones please." I said. They helped me get into the car. "It's amazing how speedy they are in the hospital." Dom said. "No, they just don't like to hold people here, too much work." I said.
The Next Day
"Oh my god Billy! If you don't stop babying me I'll kill you." I yelled as Billy shuffled around me. "I can't help it! You need me." He said. "No, you need a child or something." I said. "Let's get one!" Billy said. I nearly choked on my pop. "Are you kidding me? I don't think they just loan them out." I said. "No, I do want kids, and Little Girl, you know better than anyone that I'm not in that sort of relationship. We should adopt." He said. "Billy, are you sure? I mean that's a big step." I said. He nodded. "I've been thinking about this for a long time, let's do this Eve." He said. I looked at him. "Do I get time to think? I mean, this is a forever thing. Like you can't just bring them back if you don't like them." I said. "I know, Eve, it'll give me some meaning in my life, and we can adopt from Scotland, it'll be great Little Girl." He said. He gave me this look, and I knew he truly wanted it. I couldn't say no. "Well, ok." I said.
He hugged me, and I could just feel his joy radiating. Suddenly he kissed me. My eyes got big. "Whoa." I said. I looked over, and saw Elijah watching. He gave me a hurt look then turned away and continued to walk by. "Eve, I didn't mean that. I got caught up in it all, OK?" Billy asked. "Um, yeah." I said still watching where Elijah had been. "I'm going to find someone to call about getting a baby. Thank you so much Little Girl." He said running off.
"Holy shit what am I doing?" I asked myself out loud. "You're talking to yourself." Hannah said. "Billy and I are adopting." I said. "That's so cute! Congrats." She said hugging me. "I don't know, I'm confused." I said. "About what?" She asked. "Elijah being right. I sit around waiting to see if I really want him. It's been my life for, like, forever, and now I can't have him. I miss it all Hannah." I said. "I don't know what to say, you and Elijah are like the ultimate pair. Whether you're friends or a couple. You're the kind of pair that is impossible to duplicate, and it's not a coincidence that you two found each other. Fate wants you to be together, and it's freaking poetic. When you gave that up it affected everyone because I mean, if the ultimate pair couldn't survive the tests of time, how could anyone? All in all it sucks Eve, but you know as well as I do that you're better for Elijah than Anja is." Hannah said. I was taken back, that was quite a speech.
"Hannah, can I talk to Eve alone?" Elijah asked. Hannah jumped a bit, and then nodded as she walked away. I put on a fake smile, Hannah's speech still going through my head. "What can I do for you?" I asked. He got down on his knees to be eye level with me. "Eve, I'm so confused. I know we're over, but every part of me doesn't want you to adopt a child with Billy. I feel like you should be having kids with, with�" He started. "With?" I asked. "Me." He said. "Please don't do this. I'm so confused right now, it's too much." I said. "I know you don't want to me confuse you, but Eve you're taking a huge step with Billy and you shouldn't take it unless you are willing to make that sacrifice with him." He said. "I love Billy, and he really wants this, and I'm willing to make that sacrifice because of that fact." I said. He nodded, obviously upset about my chose. "Elijah, I don't know anything, except that I just need some sort of stability in my life, something to cling to right now." I said. "Let me be that stability! I can do it." He said. "Elijah, I can't, you aren't stable. You and I are both crazy." I said. "Damnit Eve! Don't you realize that you are turning away from the only true thing in life? You and I are meant to be together. You know it, I know it, hell, every one knows it. Why? Why don't you trust in love?" He asked. "Because, there is no trust in love." I said. "If you have no trust in love than you have no trust in life." He said. "Elijah, please, not now." I said.
"Eve, am I interrupting?" Billy asked. I smiled. "Course not, Lij and I were just chatting." I said wiping the tears from my eye. I saw Elijah do the same thing. "I called and agency and we've got an appointment tomorrow." Billy said. Elijah's face fell. "That's great!" I said. I took a deep breath, and stood up. "Elijah, you're getting married. You said yourself that you can't wait around. So just don't." I said. I felt my heart break as I said it, but I felt I needed to say it.
I turned around, and hobbled off. Billy ran after me. "Eve! Hey, wait up!" He said. I stopped and turned around to look at him. "Yea?" I asked. "What's going on?" He asked. "Nothing." I said. "That wasn't nothing." He said. "I don't know anymore Billy." I said. "What happened?" He asked. "He said he didn't want me to adopt because he thinks that I should be having kids with him. And he wants to get back with me, and I just don't know about anything anymore." I said my eyes tearing up again. "Honey, do you want to do this whole adoption thing?" He asked. "Of course I do." I said telling the truth. "Do you love him?" Billy asked. I was taken back a bit. "I don't know." I said. He looked at me, his green eyes looking strait into my soul. "Do you love him?" He asked again. I looked down. "Yes." I said. "Than tell him Eve, you're so held back all the time. Don't hold back for once just tell him." He said. "I can't." I said. I sunk to the floor. "Billy, I had my chance and I lost him. My chances are up he's getting married." I said as I started to cry. He sat next to me, and hugged me. "Eve, he wants this. Don't let him go without a fight." He said. "Billy, I can't." I said. He grabbed my face gently turning it to look at him. "Stop saying you can't. Elijah and you are on of the only truly right things in this world, don't let that go." He said. He grabbed my hand and helped me up. "Go tell him what you feel, don't hold anything back. Just talk. You have too much to loose to not do this." He said. I wiped my tears and took a deep breath and went to find Elijah.
