Facing Your Fears (Learning To Fly)

6. Mud Wrestling Anyone?

Like a melody

Your soul, your flow, your youth, your truth is simply proof

We were meant to be

Mack finally made it to the set that the guys were shooting at for the night. It looked really dark and muddy. Well, it is Bree…perfect set as usual. They were still spraying water on the ground to get that muddy, dirty feel. She walked over to the feet trailer. She psyched herself up and finally opened the door.

“Oh, hello Mack!” Dom said.

She waved, “Hi guys. The set looks awesome. Nice and muddy.”

Elijah wrinkled his nose, “That’ll get in the cracks.”

Mack snickered, “I wish I could be in the mud.”

“Oh! Let’s mud wrestle after we’re done!” Billy said suddenly.

“You have a deal,” she smiled.

Peter Jackson entered the trailer, “Hello hobbits! You’re needed on set. Hullo Mack!”

“Hi Peter,” she waved.

The hobbits followed Peter out the door but Billy stayed behind. When everyone left the trailer he kissed Mack’s cheek and followed them. As her hand went up to her cheek a smile reappeared on her face. She walked out of the trailer to hear Peter yell action. She walked over by one of the monitors and watched the scene unfold.

After ten takes of the outside Bree scenes all of the hobbits were miserable, wet, and cold. All of them were shivering violently and Mack felt sorry for them. She frowned as they went through the same scene for the eleventh time. When they finally finished they all walked over to the monitor to see the scene. An assistant handed them all extra blankets. Mack took over her warm jacket and gave it to Elijah. This surprised them since she had a white shirt on. She walked over to an area where “rain” was still coming down. Her shirt was now completely see-through revealing her light blue bra. She then took a running start and slid on her stomach through the mud. Everyone’s eyes widened.

“What?” she asked innocently.

The guys were obviously amused by this. They all came running after her and did the same. All of them slid in the mud trying to see who could get the farthest.

Billy approached her, “About that wrestling match…”

“Your on!” she challenged. With a sudden plop Mack had Billy on the ground. But he wasn’t going to give up that easily. Peter and everyone else looked at them in awe. Some shook their heads while others laughed.

There was still a struggle to see who would win. Mack finally got Billy right where she wanted him. With her emotions getting the best of her and being so close to Billy she placed her lips on his. It was like nobody was around them. Her head said no but her heart said yes. Viggo’s words came to mind. Listen to your heart not your head. She kissed him aggressively and Billy was practically pinned in the mud. Everyone’s eyes widened.

Elijah’s jaw practically dropped to the floor, “Elijah. You’re catching flies,” Sean said. Dom just cheered them on.

Mack pulled away gasping for breath, “I win.” She smiled.

“You can mud wrestle me anytime,” Billy said. “Do you know where my wig went?”

Mack giggled and picked it up out of the mud, “Um…it’s a little dirty.”

Billy coughed, “Um, Mack not that I don’t mind the position we’re in but can you please get off me?”

Mack looked down to see herself practically on top of Billy. She blushed, “Whoops.” She rolled off to the side.

Billy cleared his throat, “So, um, does this mean we’re officially together?”

She smiled, “I guess it does.”

“Take it off!” Dom yelled. Billy began to take off his suspenders. “No not you Billy! Mack!”

Mack rolled her eyes, “I said I’d never be naked in front of any of you.”

“Well, what about Billy here?” He patted his shoulder in a manly manner.

“Well,” Billy began. “I think it’s quite obvious that the only reason she wanted to be with me was for the sex.” Mack hit his arm. “Ow! That hurt!”

Elijah looked at both of them; “You’re going to have a lot of mud in the cracks…”

“I think it was worth it,” Mack giggled.

“I’ve never seen you so girly before. Billy what the hell did you do to my best friend?” Elijah was shocked.

“Order your Billy today and make any manly woman girly!” Dom put a cheesy mentos smile on.

“It like totally worked for me,” Mack said in her best valley girl voice.

Someone cleared their throat. They looked behind them to see Peter, “A congratulations are in order to you Billy and of course Mack too. Good luck, but I have some better news. We have all we need for the day so you all can go home!”

Elijah yawned, “What time is it?”

“2AM,” Peter said. “Tonight is the banquet! Have fun and don’t forget it’s semiformal! On Monday we work on the outside of Moria meaning another night shot. Get some rest and see you all tonight!”

They all walked into the foot trailer to get their prosthetics and wigs taken off. Billy handed over his Pippin wig, “I’m sorry but it got a wee bit muddy.”

Donna entered the room, “Aww, I saw everything outside it was so adorable. Congrats! Don’t worry about the wig we have a spare.” She handed each of them another towel.

Mack sighed, “My car is going to be so muddy.”

“Speaking of cars how are the rides going?” Sean asked.

“Well,” Dom started. “Sean has his car and so does Mack. So we’ll split it up. Sean, Elijah, and I will go in his car and Billy and Mack can go in a car.”

Once all of their hobbit things were taken care of they headed to the cars. Somehow Dom still had energy. Elijah kept yawning. Sean seemed content and Mack was holding Billy’s hand and leaning on him.

A loud yawn escaped Mack’s lips, “Do you want me to drive?” Billy asked.

“No, no,” she waved him off. “I’ll be ok. Don’t worry.

“If you want you can stay in the guest bedroom Billy,” Elijah said. “You were there last night so it doesn’t make a difference if you’re there again.”

Billy nodded, “Ok but I drive Mack.”

“Alright, but only this once,” she handed him the keys. Everyone said their goodbyes and went to their respectable cars. Dom kept winking at Billy and nudging him in a suggestive manner.

Mack yawned again, “Dom I just got into a relationship with him and you already think he’s going to get some? I don’t crack that easily.” Dom shrugged and hopped into Sean’s car.

Mack plopped into the passenger seat. Sean backed out and Billy started the car, “You know Mack…” he turned towards her to see that she had already fallen asleep. He pushed the hair out of her eyes and started the drive back to her apartment that she shared with Elijah.

When Billy finally reached his destination he turned off the ignition. He waved to Sean as he dropped off Elijah and then began to nudge Mack so she would wake up, “Mack. Come on sweetie it’s time to get up.”

She stirred, “Are we home yet?”

“Yes, come on up ya go,” he unbuckled her seat belt. She stretched and sleepily started to walk towards the door that Elijah was holding open for her. Billy followed right behind her. She leaned on Billy for support as they walked up the flight of stairs. Lucky for them it was only one flight. Elijah opened the door and Billy walked towards Mack’s room.

He stopped in front of her bedroom door, “Goodnight.” She said.

“Goodnight,” he kissed her lips softly and walked back to the guest room. She sighed and went into her bathroom to take a shower. Once she was done she changed into her PJs and went to bed.

*

She shot up in bed. “Not again,” she muttered.

She ran her hand through her hair. Cold sweat mixed with the salty tears and they formed patterns on her face. Her lip trembled. She had been asleep for one hour and already had her nightmares return. She pushed the covers away and walked to her door. She opened it and walked down the hallway. She found herself in front of the guest bedroom door. She bit her lip. Did she knock or just walk in? She took a deep breath and opened the door. She quickly closed it behind her and walked towards the unoccupied side of the bed. She pulled back the covers and got into the bed.

Billy stirred, “Mack is that you? What’s wrong?” Tears started to roll down her cheeks again. She started to whimper. “Aw Mack come here.” She sobbed into his shirt. “Come on you can tell me. What’s wrong?”

“It was awful,” she sniffled. “I have these nightmares every night.”

He ran his finger through her hair, “What about?”

She took in a shaky breath, “About my army days and…I crashed in Somalia. All my friends died.” She started sobbing again.

“Shh, it’s ok. Let’s try to get some sleep ok?” He said in a soothing voice. She nodded and laid back. He smoothed her hair down and whispered reassuring words in her ear. After a few minutes she finally fell asleep. He sighed. He never knew that she had it this rough. He wrapped his arms around her waist and they both slept that way.

*

A door creaked open, “Omigod I’m so sorry!”

Mack turned over and saw Josh at the door. Her eyes widened, “Josh it’s not what you think it is!”

He covered his eyes, “It’s none of my business what you do.”

Billy yawned and stretched, “Time to get up then?”

Josh’s eyes were still covered, “Josh, it’s kinda hard for us to have sex if my clothes are on.” She pulled back the covers to reveal her PJ pants and a tank top.

“Um…yes you’re right. I think I’ll just leave now.” He walked backwards out the door and shut it behind him.

“I think we’ve scarred him for life,” Bill stated. Mack nodded in agreement. Mack yawned and Billy helped her out of bed. They headed towards the kitchen where Elijah was eating his Honey Comb cereal. He started to talk with his mouth full and milk went everywhere.

“Oh that’s attractive,” she wrinkled her nose.

“Thanks, I thought so too. Good afternoon anyways. Do you know what’s wrong with Josh? He just walked through here…backwards.” Mack laughed nervously.

“Oh well, that’s easy,” Billy began. “He thought Mack and I shagged when we really didn’t.” Mack slapped her forehead and Elijah dropped his spoon.

Elijah cleared his throat, “So…Mack are you still going with Josh to the banquet thing?”

“Oh crap. I completely forgot. Yea, I’ll just take him and explain to people that I have a boyfriend,” she smiled.

“Damn straight,” Billy said. She raised an eyebrow and put some toast in the toaster.

“So, what’s the game plan?” Elijah asked.

Mack sighed, “I’m guessing Liv will be over here later to doll me up and stuff.”

“Oh girly stuff? I don’t quite understand makeup. You put it on just to take it off later…” Billy said. Mack nodded in agreement.

Mack put peanut butter on her toast and took a bite. “Can I have some?” Billy asked.

She shrugged, “Sure why not?”

He took a big bite, “This tastes good.” She nodded and took another bite.

“Can I have some?” Elijah asked. She shook her head no. “But Billy got some!”

“That’s because I’m more special than you!” Billy stuck his tongue out. Mack rolled her eyes and put the dish in the sink.

“Well,” she began. “If you’re going to act like you’re five then I have cooties. I guess I can’t touch you then. Maybe I’ll just give Dom a ring…” She walked towards the phone. Elijah laughed.

Billy grabbed her by the waist. His lips were right by her ear. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” His voice sent shivers down her spine. She closed her eyes as she felt his breath on her neck.

He kissed her neck, “Billy, I really don’t need another hickey…” Elijah laughed uncomfortably.

“Wow, this is a new development…” they all turned to see Liv.

“Hi Liv!” Billy said smiling.

“So, when did this happen?” She pointed between Billy and Mack.

“Last night,” Mack said.

“Yes, a mud wrestle turned into a make out fest and now their together,” Elijah said happily.

“He started it,” Mack pointed to Billy.

“Well, actually, yes I did.” He was still smiling.

“I’m happy for you both. Mack we need to get started.” Liv said.

Mack looked at the clock, “But it’s only 2. The banquet starts at 6…”

“Right, so, we don’t have much time!” Liv had her dress and makeup bag in hand. She sighed. “Kiss him goodbye and meet me in your room.” She walked towards Mack’s room.

“Well, I have to go. See you in a few hours.” She brushed her lips against his and then walked to her room.

“I’ll never let go Jack!” Elijah began to hum the corny Titanic song.

Billy looked at him, “You’re really sad…”

“I know. Isn’t it great?” Elijah smiled and started eating his cereal again.

“What a sad. Sad. Little man,” Billy shook his head.
