Accidental Love By T.A.G.

Chatper 1 : Running Late

"Crystal Irene Kelson!" Her moms voice boomed through the house. "Janna will be here any minute! Are you even up?"

She was up, although not yet out of bed. She opened one eye and peered around the small room. It was messy with clothes slung all over the place but it was home. She yelled at my mom in my best Im awake voice "Yes! Im up!"

"Sure you are." She mumbled and went back to playing on the computer. Meanwhile She was upstairs rooting through the clothes trying to find her Jet Ski outfit.

"Down here. I unearthed it from your room and washed it!" My mom yelled back.

"Hey! Thanks, Mom."

"Welcome, I do have a question though. Why was there a shoe inside of the outfit? I didnt notice till it was in the washer. It was your water shoe."

"Oh, good I was looking for the other one." She yelled down at her mom.

"You need to clean that pit you call a room, I think I scared the dust bunnies." She knew her mom was only half joking. Her room was getting very messy. Crystal looked around and couldnt see her carpet.

"Yeah Ill do it next weekend."

"Ill believe it when I see it," Mom retorted. She ran downstairs in her pjs and grabbed the outfit and darted back up. "Damn Crystal you sound like a herd of elephants."

"I try, Mom" She loved her mom, but sometimes she worried too much. She glanced at the clock and saw it was 10. "Shit!" She said; Janna would be there in less then a half-hour.

"I heard that." Mom said

"Mom, please Im 21." Crystal raked a comb through her tangled mess of hair.

"Yeah, if you're so old, move out," Crystal heard the toilet flush and her moms footsteps on the stairs. Crystal hated having the bathroom right outside her room. Crystal heard a faint ringing; it was her cell phone.

"Where is it, where is it?" She found it under a book she was reading last night. "Hello?"

"OK, I was just checking to make sure that your up," Janna said.

"Hey, Janna!" She guessed that Janna had probably been up since the crack of dawn.

"Im pulling into your driveway as we speak," Janna told her.

"Crap! You said 10:30. Not 10:15." Crystal told her, "Youll have to come up and wait."

"I figured."

Crystal hung up the phone and continued dressing. She put the Jet Ski outfit on and then a loose sundress and looked in the mirror. She sighed at the reflection looking back at her. The person in the mirror had a not to thin body, freckles, and frizzy blonde hair. The only thing Crystal did like about the person in the mirror were her eyes; big almond shaped brown eyes. Crystals thoughts were interrupted as Janna knocked and opened her door.

"Ready?" She asked. Janna was her best friend. She always had been, probably always would be.

"Almost. I gotta brush my teeth then were set," Crystal said and yawned.

"You just woke up didnt you?" Janna sighed as she walked back out the door and stood in the bathroom door as Crystal brushed her teeth. Crystal finished and then went downstairs with Janna in tow. They said goodbye to Crystals mom and piled into Jannas Ford Explorer. Janna got the Ford for her birthday last year. The year before that she had gotten a new Jet Ski. Jannas family had lots of money; she wasnt snotty though. She was a quiet, shy girl with dark brown hair, and big blue eyes. She had the body that Crystal would kill for, but none of that: her money, her looks, or her new car ever went to Jannas head. Janna was the nicest person in the world, and Janna had been Crystal's friend since she had moved to California. Before she had moved to California she had lived in Iowa. Crystal moved to California when she was three. So she didnt remember much about Iowa.

"Hey, Crystal are you listening to me?" Janna looked at Crystal while she was driving; Crystal hated when she did that, it scared the crap out of her.

"No, Im sorry I was spacing. Watch the road." Janna was driving on the shoulder.

"Well, I was saying my dad said you could use his Jet Ski so you dont have to spend money to rent one. Plus, its a really nice one."

"Really? Wooooo!" Crystal was excited about that. That meant she could use the money she was saving to go to a movie or something. They werent poor but they dont have a lot of money. Crystal had had a job ever since she was sixteen and made her own spending money. She was also putting herself through college. So spending money never came easy. They went to the beach where they had places roped off for Jet Skiing. Jannas dad owned a dock there so the Jet Skis were already there. They parked the car and got out. Crystal stretched and yawned. It was only a 20-minute drive from her house to the beach but Crystal had just woken up and was still a bit tired.

"Lets go get the Jet Skis out." Janna said as a yawn overtook her. "Stop yawning Crystal its contagious!" She swatted at Crystal as they walked to the dock. "This is my Jet Ski." She pointed at a dark purple one with blue striping.

"Wow! Thats awesome, I wish I had one of my own." Crystal said longingly.

"Well, theres my dads." She pointed at a dark blue one with green striping. "Just dont crash it."

"Ill be very, very careful." Crystal promised her friend. They mounted the Jet Skis and took off. Everything was good for about an hour. There were tons of people out skiing because it was a nice day. Crystal had just gotten the hang of her Jet Ski when out of nowhere she was slammed into. Crystal felt a sharp pain in her leg before the Jet Ski flipped over and Crystals world went dark.
