Supported by the Leeds band Slow Down Zone. According to Charlie Speed, guitarist with SDZ, "It was a night to remember ... I remember Steve walking in to our shared dressing room backstage and picking up a guitar and start to jam with me [and] we swapped some licks and a few laughs. We were due onstage soon so I tuned my guitar and said adios. Stave had at least 25 guitars backstage all vintage. His guitar tech had a mobile room and he was constantly tuning his instruments. All I can say is he was in full flow [and] the Dukes were good too. They rocked no doubt about that. Afterwards we went upstairs in the bar and had a good drink and swapped some stories and chilled out, all in all a great night had by all."

07/--/87 Wonderland Gardens, London, Ontario, Canada

Setlist:

Unknown

Notes:

The band's tour bus had its license plates removed and stolen at this gig. I originally had this date listed as the 24th but have it on good authority (the club owner's son) that he actually played Barrymore's on this date. It seems likely that the Wonderland Gardens show took place before the Barrymore's show, although the other possibility is that The Flood Zone show didn't happen on this date (would he really break up a Canadian tour to travel to Richmond for a single show?) thus letting the Wonderland Gardens show take place on the 25th or 26th.

07/27/87 The Diamond Club, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

07/31/87 Spectrum, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Known songs played:

I Ain't Ever Satisfied / Dead Flowers

Notes:

Steve supported Billy Bragg at this date - the earliest known show where the two played on the same bill. For Steve's encore of Dead Flowers Bragg joins him onstage. One fan noted "It was a great show. During 'I Ain't Ever Satisfied' the crowd spontaneously began to sing the chorus. Earle was beaming from ear to ear with an innocent charm that said he was surprised by the crowd's response."

Notes:

The song 'Sorry Dwayne' was written for a TV cop show called 'Houston Knights' starring Michael Pare. The song was never used. The title refers to Duane Eddy whom Steve has admitted he was ripping off.
