Day 1 - On The Plane

These WestJet folks try a little too hard. Don't get me wrong, I like the TVs in the headrests and the online check-in, but the leather seats aren't the smartest idea for warmer weather. They try to inject some humour into the preflight which I appreciated the effort and actually found some of it funny but it was somewhat painful to see no one else laughing. Getting back to the TVs for a moment I had this brilliant idea before the 16 hour flight to Europe to watch an entire season of 24 on the plane but I wasn't willing to shell out the dough for a laptop or portable DVD player. Well guess what was on the satellite tv on the plane? Not only that, it was the second season episode where Jack Bauer's plane gets shot down. Nice.

Edmonton

The driver of the Sky Shuttle was awesome - funny, polite, and original. I was all too happy to toss in a $5 tip. The hotel room was a little smaller than expected but I didn't mind, however there was no fridge and the bathroom needs some work. Went to WEM and had myself a Harvey's Burger and a crepe. Wandered the mall for a bit looking at different things, easily 50% of the stores are hiring. Found an insecure network and was able to check my e-mail. I e-mailed Jon and thought about e-mailing Laura. We'll see. There was a nice black shirt with blue stripes that I might get back home when there's a sale. So while I'm relaxed and having a good time I don't have much to show for my first day here except for some pictures. The good thing is I'm getting lots of pictures taken, with Jon I feel like I have to have a good reason for every shot for some reason.

Day 2 - Edmonton

Last night I got watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report. Unfortunately before long I got a leg cramp. I slept in, watched DS9, did a Sudoku, had a shower, strolled to get a haircut, went exploring, found a Wal-Mart and picked up some DVDs I'd been looking for, and hit the pool - the stuff you're supposed to do on vacation! I must say swimming in the hotel pool by myself kinda sucked largely because the whirlpool was closed, the pool wasn't deep enough to swim laps, and the contractors who will be doing the renovations next week were there. That having been said having the slide to myself was sweet, I probably looked like a kid but I don't care. Wasted a day wandering around the mall with me hunting for free WiFi. Rohit called 3 times and left 2 voicemails, fuck 'em. Back at the hotel I got back just in time for the shows.

Day 3 - Edmonton

This trip was a HUGE mistake. I was VERY lucky the amusement park wasn't busier. I was actually able to get on everything I wanted to. After all that I moved on to the waterpark. I did have a fair bit of fun at the waterpark. Which got me to thinking about who I miss back home.

Day 4 - Edmonton

I am frankly astonished that nothing went horribly wrong this morning. Although I only got about 2 hours sleep. God willing I can now leave this entire trip behind me. Still not entirely sure what I'm going to do back home but whatever happens will be a paradise compared to here. One thing I will say about this trip, I did a hell of a packing job - the only thing I found myself wanting for was another t-shirt.
