The Anti-Spotlight

Well, you could probably see this one coming too: with a Song Spotlight on a potential chart breaker, I offer a page devoted to describing the worst song- or songs- on the radio. This is where I get my club and bash these records good, hoping the radios will follow suit and NEVER PLAY THESE SUCKERS AGAIN!!!

Digital Rockers- Because I Love You

Ever wanted a crash course in ruining covers? The Digital Rockers give you one, ruining an excellent love song- done by Stevie Wonder no less- by inserting the word "power" and dropping the lamest excuse for a bassline before the chorus. You listen to the track and all you get is "oh, it's just another dance song" instead of "wow, what a personal love song". Oh, and I'm not going to dance to this crap either.

Shakira- The One

Never thought a Led Zepplin-type song would be bad...but this is horrible. Shakira shows us why her only real "asset" is not in her musicianship, as her voice is awful and makes listening to this junk unbearable. You know, maybe I should correct myself: "Led Zepplin rip-off". That sounds better.

Sonic Youth- The Empty Page

Yeah, Sonic Youth are legendary but that won't stop them from ending up here. Why? Well this utterly dull song sounds horribly dated, as if the Sonic Youth forgot that this is 2002, not 1952. You know what guys, if you're not going to change with the times, stay in the 1950s. Please.

Wave- Don't Say Sarah

First, Wave rips off Michelle Branch. Now they're ripping off themselves ("Think It Over"). I wonder how long it will be before they rip off their fans, hmmn?

Masterboy- I Need A Lover Tonight

This guy's got their eyes on the pop charts...and nothing else. I haven't heard a dance song this generic in such a long time...and I never want to hear it again.

Queens Of The Stone Age- No One Knows

"No One Knows" why this song was ever released. Following up the utterly lame yelling-soft alternating "Millionaire" (on the "Triple X" soundtrack), they come up with a song that has more in common with the Sahara than a rock song. You know, I'd never thought I'd be blasting a rock song for being dry, but Josh Homme and the boys have proven me wrong.
