The Anti-Spotlight
Well, you could probably see this one coming too: with a Song Spotlight on a potential chart breaker, I offer a page devoted to describing the worst song- or songs- on the radio. This is where I get my club and bash these records good, hoping the radios will follow suit and NEVER PLAY THESE SUCKERS AGAIN!!!
Funkstar Deluxe- Blinded By The Light
Bruce Springsteen deserves better than a routine dance cover that simply elongates the guitar sound and adds only a few light thuds.
B2K- Girlfriend
Look's like P. Diddy's influence didn't end with "Bump, Bump, Bump": here, they've rewritten his "classic" "I Need A Girl". Sigh.
Brand New- Jude Law And A Semester Abroad
Stupid, cliched Sum 41 pop-punk rejects who sing a very non-sensical song. Another sigh.
E-Town Concrete- Mandibles
These P.O.D. rejects rap a cliched gangster song with really, really lame punkish beats. I'm curious as to why (or if) they even tried with this one.
Cooder Graw- Better Days
We all need a happy song sometimes, but we'd prefer if they weren't songs we've already heard a million times before.
Rian Greene- Shotgun Side
This guy thinks he had an original idea with a song about driving down the open country road...the problem is, originality doesn't mean redoing a song done three billion times before.
Kaci- I'm Not Anybody's Girl
She sings like Christina Aguilera, but she also rips off Aguilera from her "innocent days" way back in 1999 (yes, it was just that long ago), right down to the cheesy lyrics and beats. Hopefully she'll be told she has a gift before she wastes it like Aguilera did.
Kelly Price- He Proposed
Guess what the song is about. C'mon guess. I know you know. Utterly and horrifically predictable soul song.
The Salads- Get Loose
I saw these guys in concert at my old high school (I was up visiting from University) and these guys were a huge joke. They've only gotten worse with a rapcore song that's so nonsensical, it's laughable. Perhaps these guys should have used the school setting to learn a thing or two about writing songs...
The Androids- Do It With Madonna
It has a good pop-rock beat, but it can't decide if it wants to be a celeb-slamfest or the pop-rock version of O-Town's "Liquid Dreams". Suggestion: think about that BEFORE recording the song, please.
Cosmic Gate- The Wave
It starts as a great mellow dance beat, eventually mellowing to the point where you expect to hear a "boom". Instead, like getting the air popped out of a balloon, the boom never comes as the song just fizzles out into a rudimentary and very airless dance tune. *heavy sigh*
Stylophonic- If Everybody In The World Loved Everybody Else In The World
This is what the song is: the same, monotonous beat with the same, monotonously sung "If everybody in the world/Loved everybody else in the world/What a glorious world this would be" repeated several times over. Boring? Silly? You bet. Besides Flash Rider's "Attenzione!" I haven't come across a dance song this horrible in quite a long time.
Tallman- Tribute
They whine as much as Papa Roach does, and then says in the chorus, "please don't cry". Sorry, but I'm crying knowing just how pitiful this song is.
Stye- Filthy
These guys are puerile Taproot wannabes who cry and complain in the chorus "why does no one care?" With a song this horrible, that's your answer.
