When Tobias Moretti led Richard Moser to death "on his free will", the produsers started panicly to search new partner to Rex. They looked over all lists of theaters and movie companies. In less than a year more than 25 austrian and german actors tried the part of komissar Brandter, but Gedeon suited the best. He and Rex were old friends: a couple of years before Gedeon had guest starred in one part as burgler. "Rex is really smart real dream-dog. He is the star of the series and he is aware of it. I hope he will leave me somespace to rock," Gedeon sayd in 1997, when started solveing murder mysterys as Alexander Brandter. Because of Rex man left L.A. and moved to Vienna with his girl-friend Emma.
Gedeon started acting at the age of 10 and by accident, when his parents took him along to their pro-ducer-friend. After "Tante Maria" (Aunt Maria) in 1979 he became child star in Germany. He was ex-pended from school 5 times because of the acting tricks. At the age of 16 he left school permanently and started earning money with acting. The movies "Kleine Haie" (1992) and "Abgeschminkt" (1993) made him famous and he headed to Hollywood. But there he got only commercial propositions for 3 years. On-ce he was co-starring in one cheap New - Zealand TV series and then he made a promise that he will ne-ver take ANY part in ANY TV series. But he broke the promise in a sec, when he had an opportunity to play with "the smartest dog in whole world". "Situation was totally different. The team works profes-sionally and the part of komissar Brandter was getting interesting every time."
4-month shooting time included 14 hours working days and Gedeon was required boxing, driving and shooting experience. He had to study all of thse things. But it payed off. "Now I am as good as any Ame-rican actor," says Gedeon, who has changed his image.
Gedeon is highly wanted commercial face. Wine company "Henkell" has hired him to play softer macho-man in their wine with famous and tuffer G?tz "Schimanski" George.
Thanx to Gedeon "Kommissar Rex" female watchers per cent rose about 20 per cent and now every fourth watcher is a female. The magnetism of Burkhard was researched even by M?nchen Media Research Institute. Dog and master understanded eachother perfectly and fans liked this new partner-ship much more than the last one. Gedeon laughs: "After I put "Kommissar Rex" sticker on my car, I started to get less tickets for wrong car parking," and he never stops prase his 4-legged partner: "Rex is proffessional actor and extraodenary colleaque. He knows exacly when is reheasal and when is shooting. In rehearsal he does only half, but when camera starts shooting he does his best and gives maximum. Rex does half less shots than me!"
Gedeons father is his manager and mother deals with his fan mail.
