| Now very much in ruins Coity Castle still has well preserved Norman features, especially the eastern face and parts of the battlements, and also the wall walk which connected the three story keep. The keep and the most of the castle was extensively altered during the 14th century.Inside the inner bailey can be seen the ruins of other buildings notably the great hall, the kitchen, buttery, and pantry. During the Tudor times the tall chimneys were added. |
| In the early 15th century the castle was attacked by Owain Glyndwr, the Welsh freedom fighter, but the defenders managed to withstand the siege. The castle is now managed by C.A.D.W.Welsh Historic Monuments. Across the lane from the Castle there is also a fine example of a 14 century battlemented medieval church. |
