| Standing on a small hill overlooking Swansea Bay, Oystermouth Castle is one of the finest and well preserved castles in the Gower. The castle was founded in the 12th Century by William de Londres and was probably of a ringwork and bailey structure of which now there is no trace. Later it was to become one of the main residences of the Lords of Gower. In the 13th Century the de Braoses rebuilt the castle in stone, and most of what can be seen today is from that period. |

| The castle is open to the public during the tourist season for a nominal fee, and it can provide a couple of hours exploring it's many well preserved features. There are some wonderful views of Swansea Bay and Mumbles. In Oystermouth there are a variety of shops and a good pub! |
