Los Alamos
Another small town in central Santa Barbara County, Los Alamos was a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop, and then bypassed by US 101 in the 1950s. It is the southern end of California 135. Los Alamos retains it's heritage by celebrating Western Days each fall.

The centerpiece of Los Alamos is the Union Hotel and restaurant.

It was opened in 1880 as the Wells Fargo Stage stop.

Plaque out in front of the Union Hotel.

Across the street from the Union Hotel is the Alamo motel.

Not pictured here is Los Alamos' other motel, appropriately named the Skyview Motel, is located atop a hill overlooking US 101. It is very visible from the freeway traveling either north or south.
Along with a Chevron station at the east end of town, Los Alamos offers these gas stations.

This former station is next to the Union Hotel.

I love it when stations have different kinds of pumps.

Unfortunately it can't be seen here, but these two pumps dispensed gas in liters.

Further down the street, this looks a lot like an old Union 76 sign.

Yep, it's a Union 76 pump. Curbside service on old 101.

Speaking of curbside pumps, these pipes across from the Union Hotel look suspiciously like they might of had pumps on them at one time long ago.

One sign of life was the Los Alamos market, surprisingly well stocked.
