| THE CMU AUDITION |
| Each audition has the following components: 1) Music Theory Test (mandatory-for placement purpose only) 2) Ear Skills/Audiation Test (mandatory-for placnet purposes) 3) Piano placement (for those who have had some piano backgound-if you have no piano background you will just be placed into first semester piano class) 4) Major instrument Audition (any audition prior to the March audition will be considered when deciding music scholarships. Music sholarships are based primarily on performance, however, grade point average, ACT score, and the Music Theory Placement and Audiation test results are weighed in the final outcome) |
| CMU TROMBONE AUDITION |
| 1) Prepared solo(s) or etudes; approsimately 5-7 minutes of music demonstrating contrasting styles. Recommended solo possibilities: Tenor Trombone: Galliard Sonatas Marcello Sonatas Builmant-Morceau Symphonique Barat-Andante et Allegro David-Concertino Saint-Saens-Cavatine Rimsky-Korsakov-Concerto Blazevich-Concert Sketch #5 Bass Trombone: Hindemith-Drei Leichte Stucke Lebedev-Concertoin on movement for tuba or Bass Trombone Hartley-Sonata Breve for Bass Trombone Recommended Etude Books: Bordigni/Rochut Melodius Etudes Book I for Trombone (Bass Trombone also- normal and played down on octave) Arbans Complete Method for the Trombone (Bass Trombone also) Tyrell, 40 Progressive Studies Blume, 36 Studies (Bass Trombone also) Bass Trombone-Grigoriev Studies 2) Scales: All major, as many octaves as you have; as many minor scales (melodic) as you can play. 3) Sightreading 4) Questions-please feel free to question the teacher about the program email Dr. Lindahl |
