A 35-year veteran of stage, TV and film performances, Schultz said he was thrilled to meet with members of a real Special Forces team and thanked them for their service in both Afghanistan and Iraq during the Global War on Terrorism.
Thank you guys so much for what you do, Schultz said to the Green Berets. Its a great honor to meet you.
The A-Team series, which premiered in 1983, was based on fictional Vietnam-era Special Forces Soldiers falsely accused of a crime they didnt commit, performing good deeds around the country while on the run from their military pursuers. A-Team is a term for a Special Forces Operational Detachment A, the 12-man team that is the heart of Army Special Forces structure.
An A-team from the 3rd SFG hosted a modular equipment display for Schultz. Soldiers specializing in the areas of Special Forces operations and intelligence, weapons, communications, engineering and medical care briefed him on the scope of their duties during both peacetime and combat.
Schultz also met with a three-man tactical psychological operations team from the 9th Psychological Operations Battalion here.
Shortly after leaving USASOC, Schultz visited with the Fort Bragg-based U.S. Army Parachute Team, The Golden Knights. Schultz was scheduled to meet with Golden Knight team members, tour the teams new facility and experience a tandem free-fall parachute jump.
After The A-Team was cancelled in 1987, Schultz was cast in a recurring role as Lt. Reginald Barclay on both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, and more recently has provided voiceover talent for many TV and film productions.
