Arriondas-Lagos de Covadonga
This route consists basically of the ascent to the Lakes of Covadonga. The section from Arriondas to Covadonga can be considered a warm-up to confront the very hard ascent to the Lakes.
The route begins in Arriondas where you have to take N-625 in the direction of Cangas de Onis, in this locality the AS-214 is taken and after three kilometros it is necessary to take the deviation towards Covadonga. From this point there are left 7 kilometros of a light hill, that leaves us in the beginning of the ascent.
The ascent begins with a 4%, that turns soon into 7% and begin the sections that go from the 10 to 15% in the section known like " the Seat of the Canons ", in the first two kilometers of ascent. After relatively smooth slopes (from the 7 to 9%) the road is risen progressively until arriving in kilometer 6 at the Huesera, incline of 700 meters that exceeds 15%. After this section the pending drops to 10% to face the curves of Du�, where the maximum percentage of the ascent is reached, a 17%. Next the slope is between the 9 and 11% during one kilometer, after which there is a small drop taht arrives us to the inclines confront that take to the Enol lake. After this lake there is a new drop until arriving at the last kilometer of ascent. Altogether there are 12.7 kilometros with a height difference of 910 meters. A last advice: do not try this route unless you are in good shape and prepared to suffer.
