VUELTA A ESPAÑA 2008
The route through Asturias of Vuelta 2008 is the best one in last years. Two great climbs at the stage finishes, one of these is the Angliru, which comes back after six years absence, and the route of both stages justify this statement. Besides the two stages will be run on Saturday and on Sunday which will help to increase the amount of spectators. After these stages, the race will start from Cudillero to arrive at Ponferrada, leaving Asturias by Puerto de Somiedo.
STAGE 13
The stage starts at San Vicente de la Barquera, entering almost immediately in Asturias to climb the Alto de Ortigueiro. After this difficulty, the race will approach Asturias center, to face the Falla de los Lobos. After this climb the route is the same as the one of year 2000 with the ascents to Colladiella, Cordal, present in all Vuelta stages that have ended at Angliru, and the mythical final climb.
STAGE 14
Afer eleven years without touching the Asturias capital, the stage starts at Oviedo, to face a hard route, with the very well kown ascents of Padrún and Santo Emiliano. After the descent of the last one, the race will climb the Camperona, new ascent that have a very steep uphills. Finally the stage face the Colladona, to finish at Fuentes de Invierno, which is a ski resort placed on top of San Isidro pass.
