Tropheus Brichardi
"Mpimbwe"

I hope to have a picture soon.

I got 5 juveniles on 07/10/200 from a local store "Chris and Carol's living world pets" in Kennewick WA.  This is only the second Tropheus species that I have ever had and I am very excited about them.  I have always liked this genius of Cichlids but have never been able to get a hold of any.  This is a rather aggressive species and requires lots of rocks and fresh water.  I do a 50% water change on this tank weekly, this is more than I normaly do but from what I have read it makes them much happier and healthier.
Tank size: 20 gallon high (for now until they get bigger)
Tank Temp: 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult size of fish:  5.5" ( 13.9 cm)

Breeding information:
Maternal mouth brooder.  After spawning the female rejoins the group.  The incubation period is about 26 days although it is not uncommon for them to brood well beyond that time. See my breeding page for information about mouth brooders.
(NOTE: the above information was gathered from several sources.  This is the first time I have kept Tropheus and as I learn I will update this page.)
