Tyannal Manor encompasses just over three square miles of farm and woodland on the southern frontier of the tiny kingdom of Chybisa. About one third of the estate remains uncleared woodland and is a rich source of timber, game, and fur. The remaining 1,320 acres of fertile farmland produce mostly barley and oats, but smaller fields are set aside for wheat, rye, flax, and vegetables. The slopes above the banks of Elmith Stream are covered with meadow grasses during the Spring and the Lord of the Manor maintains a small pear orchard adjacent to the manor house.
Half of the fields lie fallow each year, serving as pasture for the village's beasts of burden and for the flocks of sheep and goats raised in the village. Swine are grazed in the margins of the forest that surrounds the cleared fields. The majority of the livestock raised in the village are the property of Sir Toma but most villagers maintain at least some animals of their own. Those who can afford it might place their animals in the care of Sir Toma's herders but most are under the watchful eyes of each householder's children.
In addition to Sir Toma Docord's manor house, there are 26 households within the village; seventeen are held by serfs, three are held by freeman farmers (two of these are yeomen), and three are held by the village's craftsmen. The innkeeper, the village priest, and the forester (who keeps a small hut in a forest clearing north of the village) make up the remainder. The present population of Tyannal Manor is 176.
