I have a brother and although he doesn't live
close to me, I still love him with all my heart, for he has
bright eyes and a sweet smile. Now we live a thousand miles
apart, and that is too far away...but he is still precious to me.
Being the only boy he was a spoiled brat. He
thought because he was a boy, he shouldn't have to do dishes, but
our Mother changed his mind, and us sisters kept him in line.
Sometimes he was awfully mean....other times he
was so very sweet, but he always wanted to look very neat. If
someone touched his head, he'd say,
"Don't mess up my hair, I just got a hair cut!"
When he was small he learned to play a guitar.
When he grew up he worked from morning to night, but on weekends
he played and sang in a band and was one of the best.
When he retired he bought a big boat... to have
some rest and relaxation.
He loved to go out to the lake... he likes to catch fish, and
cook them until they are crisp.
But now he has a bad heart and his working days
are over, but he has lots of time to visit friends in many
places. He has a nice wife and has settled down for life. He
plays with his dogs, Rowdy and Candy, and watches his giant TV
Set. He's taking his life day by day, believing there's a
brighter tomorrow... Right down the road.
He means so very much to me.

Note: Written to amuse my brother, Jerry, in 2000 when he was
so sick.

In June of 1995 Jerry had a Heart Attack and in
August he had coronary artery bypass surgery that saved his life,
but due to the tranfer of leg veins to his heart it left his legs
bad. He underwent 4 heart-bypasses, where a large vein in his leg
were taken, and one end was sewn onto the large artery leaving
his heart -- the aorta. The other end of the vein was attached or
"grafted" to the coronary artery below the blocked
area. He did better for a few years, then the other veins in his
right leg went bad.
In 2002, he had 2 blood vein transplants in his
right leg, (at different times) and so far is doing better. He's
able to walk again with the aid of a cane.
Update- Jerry's body rejected the 3rd blood vein
transplant and in August 2002, he had his leg amputated. Now he
is doing fine, has a good outlook on life, and goes to church
every Sunday morning.
He's thankful he is alive, and is no longer in
such great pain in that one leg. He now has a prosthesis.
We Thank God for sparing his life and his legs.
Please think about being a donor; it could save someone's life or
limbs.
Update-It is Aug. 2005, and Jerry will have open
heart surgery. I will update on his progress as I know it. Jerry
will have a heart valve replacement and four bypasses. We are
asking everyone to please say a prayer that all goes well. This
is a very risky operation given Jerry's age and medical history.
Aug. 18, 2005

Jerry came through open-heart surgery,
And is home recuperating.
We thank everyone for all your prayers.
