- Soap Bars & Dog Ears (2004)

My immediate reaction to hearing this album for the first time was "Oh My God! This Kid Is Amazing"! It blew my mind that not only is this one of the best blues albums I've heard all year, but the artist is a teenager!

When most people his age are working out their first bout of acne, or fretting over their first kiss, Jimmy Bowskill is making a name for himself as one of Canada's finest blues players. But don't kid yourself, (pardon the pun) he isn't just some flash in the pan 'Wonder-Kid', he is the Real Deal! He is a child prodogy with a bright future!

This album is proof of that! Soap Bars & Dog Ears is an marvelous mixture of covers and original tunes, that will have you tapping your toes and bopping along in no time.

If there is one Highlight on this album for me, it is the original tune "The Truth". It is a brilliant example of the shear power of this young artist. But one song does not a music career make! Jimmy Bowskill is no 'one trick pony'.

His prowess on guitar is matched only by the rough, rawboned quality of his vocals. Combine this with his incredible writing ability and you have the total package! There are players out there three times his age who wish they had half his tallent! Do the math, and it all adds up! Jimmy Bowskill is for real!

Listen to this album, and be amazed!
