Terry Penney - Missing Marshville (2002)

Terry Penney is back with his second album, "Missing Marshville", so named as a tribute to his home town of Lewisport, Newfoundland.

If someone were to ask me to recommend a local 'singer/songwriter' album for the year (2002), this one would be at the top of my list. As a singer, Penney has a raw talent that is augmented by his way with words, and his uncanny affinity for turning a good tune.

"Missing Marshville" is a collection of tunes that some might mistakenly think lean toward's being called country, but don't make the mistake of trying to catagorize Terry Penney. His music is as varied as his influences.

The first cut, "Midnight and the Moon" might lend to the illusion, but then a high energy rocker like "Down This Road" comes up and throws you for a loop. Then a heart tugging story like "Hiding Mr. Hyde", about a relationship gone wrong, or the beautiful and touching ballad "Normany in Newfoundland", about the haunted veterans or World War Two, step up and solidify Terry Penney as a great young talent with a bright future.

Terry Penney's potential is only limited by his talent... and judging by this CD... his talent is limitless!
