Frank Zappa - Apostrophy (1974)

Once again we dive, heedless into the dangerous waters that are the mind of Mr. Frank Zappa. Never one to mince words, or take musical short cuts, Zappa presents us with an impressive collection of tunes disguised as epic sojournes into pop culture, fake mystic's, sexual preversion, and just plain madness.

Only a mind as brilliant (and slightly off center) as Frank Zappa could create the musical landscape we see in Apostrophy. It starts on the great northern tundra with Nanook (and his favorite baby seal), passes through St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast, with a short stop to get some Cosmik Debris off the Mystery Man, before we bypass Uncle Remus, and end up with a rousing good case of Stink Foot. But trust me boys and girls... this in Not Strictly from Commercial!

Beyond the mind boggling lyric's, is Frank Zappa the musical perfectionist! Some people screw around on instruments, and it sounds like someone screwing around on an instrument... but Zappa is not screwing around! Every note, every rhythm, every sound effect, every word has a place and a perpose.

Leave it to Zappa to get it all there. In a word... Brilliant!
