The 35th Jamaica Open will get underway on Saturday October 19, 2002 at the Christar Villas, on 99a Hope Road and just across from Campion College. NM Shane Matthews is the defending Champion, and if he enters the contest will start as the runaway favourite. The Tournament, which starts on Saturday, at 9:30am, will run for two days, with 3 rounds being played on Saturday and the final two on Sunday. PRIZES OPEN SECTION 1st Place - $5,000 plus Trophy U 1800 SECTION 1st Place - $2,000 plus Trophy CATEGORY PRIZES Best U 16 - Medallion FORMAT Two Sections: a)Open
and b) U1800 section Time control: 30 Moves in One(1) hr. and 30 minutes to complete. Open five(5) round Swiss Tournament 1/2 Point Byes for rounds 1 and 2 SCHEDULE Registration; 8:30am - 9:15am ROUND 1 - Saturday 9:30am TO 12:30pm ROUND 4 - Sunday 9:30am - 12:30pm |
