Dexter’s and Laroche lead varsity in points

In round 4 of the Businessmen’s Chess League action at School Street on Wednesday, Dr. Laroche won another match to pull ahead of Dexter’s Service Center.  The top two teams remain tied in game points.  Bauschard Dodge advanced to tie with Smith’s Awards & Trophies and is now only half a point behind Laroche and Dexter’s in the varsity section.

Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair fell out of first as Lang Surveying swept their match to move half a point ahead of the rest of the pack.  Tasta Pizza and Hamlin bank are tied for third with 8.5 points.

In the JV division, top-ranked Christopher Borland (Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair) has a half point advantage over Angel Achar (Lang Surveying), who is in second overall.  Nico Alvarado has advanced to third (Lang Surveying).

Ryan Ferguson, captain for Smith’s Awards & Trophies, defeated Greg Henry (captain for Dexter’s Service Center) in the Businessmen’s Open, but his luck didn’t hold in the league competition.  Henry won their match and continues his undefeated lead.  Larry Causer (captain of Bauschard Dodge) and Ron Buchheit (captain for Dr. Gonzalez) are now tied for second place.

There is no chess club December 22 or 29 due to the Christmas break.  League competition will resume January 5.  Contact Robert Ferguson at [email protected] for more information about the chess club or league.
