A Girl or Four!

The girls at 7 weeks (photos in birth order)

Chelport Shine Shine (Sian) has had a holiday to Queensland, to visit Ch Kabob Outa Reach (Clay).  Sian is featured on my Girls page, and is a daughter of Ch Fantasyfarm Aztecsungold and Selcarim Dreamin On, and granddaughter of Ch Chelport Mr Natural, and Ch Selcarim Never Dreamt.  Clay was "got by AI" from the frozen semen of Crufts Best of Breed winner, Ch Rheinvelt Ringold von Salador, a very influential and much sought-after sire.  On his dam's side, feature several English imports, amongst them Ch Harana Slap n Tickle, Ch Sorata Bugsy Siegel and NZ Ch Downsbank Pluto.  I am very privileged to have been able to use Clay, and really look forward to seeing what this litter produces.  I don't mind whether we have boys or girls, as either could be an asset to my breeding program, and all will certainly be loved.  However, it *would* be nice to redeem some poor decisions of the past and have a couple of nice Black and Tan girls to choose from!

10:18 pm: Black & Tan girl!  She has a lovely, full head, and chunky body.  Only the tiniest stript of white on her chest, which will grow over within a couple of months.

11:00 pm: Ruby boy (deceased).  What a shame - he looked so normal when he was born - a good size at about 8oz, and not a stitch of white - but his lips and tongue were black.  His placenta had come away from the uterus, probably several days earlier.  Sian's belly was pretty full, so I imagine it was just too cramped.  He was such a robust looking little person, too.

12:35 am: Black & Tan girl.  This one has the conformation I prefer, with a longer neck and lovely short hocks, although her body is a little leaner.  Her thin strip of white is almost identical to the first born - I will soon have trouble telling them apart!

1:35 am: Black & Tan girl.  Goodness!!!  Another one!  Another with a longer neck, but also has a nice full head.  Only a couple of tiny white spots on her chest, too.  I will have plenty to choose from here!

3:05 am: Black & Tan girl.  Oh, I like this one!  She reminds me of James (Chelport Black Watch - the baby with the flowers on my Home page) as a newborn.  Like the first born, she has a lovely, full head and chunky body.  Her tan is a little darker, with not a white hair in sight!

I'm very sad that the little Ruby boy didn't make it, but oh so happy to have so many Black and Tan girls to think about.  I haven't promised any of the girls to anyone else - time and fate will decide which girl/s stay and which go as pets.

7 July 2004

The girls are now 10 weeks old, and will be terribly difficult to part with.  I feel very emotionally attached to them, as it is significant for me to have some nice Black and Tan girls to pick from at this time.  I have decided that they will all still be here until at least 6 months of age.  In birth order, their names are Missi (Chelport Decadance), Lizzi (C Living Eyes), Hetti (C Reachin Out) and Poppi (C Whisper Whisper).  They are loosely named after their great-great grandmother, Lilli, who turned 14 in May.  Missi and Poppi are almost identical in every way, while Lizzi and Hetti are also alike.

These lovely girls bring a new line to my breeding program - or should that be "they bring an old line to the fore"?  Time will tell which continue to be shown (and later trained for Agility), and whose destiny is to be as a loved and loving pet - pets will be neutered before leaving..  In the meantime, I have 4 gorgeous little girls to train!

   "Stand"

FLASH!!!  Missi and Hetti both won Baby in Group at all breeds championship shows, on debut (they debuted in different shows).  Good start, girls!  Poppi is also a class winner, while Lizzi (aka Bella) has gone on to a lovely pet home.
