| Welcome to the Chatham, Michigan and Rock River Township History Page. On this page, we go back many years, to the creation of the township and the village, and explore particularly interesting aspects of the area. So many things are different now, compared to then, that it's really hard to compare the eras. All we can do is tell the stories of the past, and understand what it was like to live in that time. It was an era when the main roads we use now were dirt, and the major source of transportation was by horse carrage or train.
