24 March 1541
Walter (Wouter) of Stoelwijk was burned to death. He had been imprisoned 3 years at the castle of Vilvoorde, north-east of Brussels.

1558

Govert Jasperszoon was executed. He was arrested while sitting in a field reading a New Testament. He had been a priest who left the Holy Cross monastery at Goes in Zeeland.

1571

28 March 1571
Hans van der Straten of Kortrijk was brought to Brussels from Antwerp, along with some Calvinist prisoners, and burned to death. Hans was 31 years old and married only 6 weeks.

1597

A young woman named Anneken van den Hove was buried alive in a grave while Jesuit priests asked her to recant. She refused, and they finally covered her face and stamped on it with their feet. Anneken was the maidservant of Nicolaes Rampaert's sister. She was the last Anabaptist martyr in the southern Netherlands.
