Argonauts 26 @ Montreal Alouettes 30
| MONTREAL (Ticker)
-- The Montreal Alouettes will have a chhance to defend their Grey Cup title.
Quarterback Anthony Calvillo's 35-yard touchdown run with under five minutes remaining lifted the Alouettes to a 30-26 triumph over the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL East Division final. Montreal will face Edmonton in next week's title game. Last season, the Alouettes posted a 25-16 win over Edmonton in the title game. Calvillo secured the Alouettes' 13th trip all-time to the title game by racing to the end zone with 4:29 remaining, erasing a 26-23 deficit. Calvillo completed 25-of-35 passes for 228 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and also ran four times for 40 yards. The performance by Calvillo overshadowed a brilliant effort by Argonauts backup Marcus Brady, who completed 19-of-32 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns. He came on after starter Damon Allen left the game in the first quarter with an injury to his throwing hand. Toronto had three chances to win the game after Calvillo's go-ahead touchdown but came up empty each time. The Alouettes erased a six-point deficit in the third quarter, getting a 37-yard field goal from Matt Kellett and Calvillo's 17-yard TD toss to Kwame Cavil to take a 23-19 lead. Toronto regained the lead 3:24 into the fourth quarter on Brady's 32-yard TD pass to Tony Miles. |
