Bass was born on March 31, 1958 in Lansing,
Michigan. He attended
Michigan State University.

Danny Bass began his CFL playing career in 1980 with the
Toronto Argonauts in the linebacker position. In 1981 he was traded
to the Calgary Stampeders and was named All-Canadian and named to the
All-Star eam in 1982 and 1983. Bass
continued his stellar CFL career in 1984 to 1991 with the Edmonton
Eskimos and won numerous awards and honours.

Some highlights of his twelve year career included 23
interceptions for a total of 243 yards returned and 1 touchdown, 21 fumbles
recovered for a total of 109 yards and 2 touchdowns, and 52 quarterback
sacks.
