John came to the United States in 1870 and was naturalized June 21, 1876. His mother, Kate, and brother, George G. and Peter Christian, and sisters, Anne Marie and Caroline, followed him to the United States.
... John L. and Frederica (Frederickson) Rasmussen were married ...and lived near Thrall . They purchased the farm in Humbolt County March 8,1886, which has been designated a Century Farm..."1880 Eagle Grove, Wright, IA census shows occupation as "Farmer" working on Lewis Nelson farm. Census also show Nels Frederickson as the father of Lewis Nelson.

OBITUARY.
Mrs. Maria Douglas died at Forest City, S. D., of pneumonia, Feb. 21, 1903. She was born in St. Lawrence county, N. Y., in 1831 where she was married to Alexis Douglas in 1852. In 1859 they came to Reedeburg, making their home in this vicinity until 1882. They then moved to Sully county, Dakota. Mr. Donglas died soon after. Two children survive both living in Forest City. Two sisters are still living, Mrs. Mosher of North Dakota and Mrs. S. Knowles of Reedsburg. Also two brothers survive, D. T. Reed of Forest Gity, S. D., and Wm. Douglas -Feb. 21 1903 at 7 a. m. of pueumonia, Mrs Maria Douglas of Forest City, So. Dak., in her 73rd year.
The deceased was born in 1831in St Lawrence county New York, where she was married to Mr Alexis Douglas in 1852. Seven years later they moved to Reedsburg, Wis, thence coming to the vicinity of Lewiston, Sully Co.,S. D. in 1862, where they settled on a homestead, having been preceded by their only daughter, Mrs. H. E. Gates, and her husband. Shortly after coming to Lewiston Mr. Douglas died, since which time Mrs Douglas has made her home with her daughter, who came to Forest City in 1899.
She leaves two children to mourn her loss, viz.: besides Mrs. Gates,
Mr.Chas. E. Douglas, also of Forest City , and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mosher of North Dakota, Mrs. Knowles and Wm Reed of Reedsburg, Wis. and
D. T. Reed of Forest City.
Mrs. Douglas had been in feeble for about a year and took pneumonia a week before she died. Her end was calm and peaceful and expressive of a readiness to depart.
The funeral service was held at the home of her daughter, on Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. Arnold of Gettysburg, and the remains were taken to Okoix>jo for a interment beside those of her husband.Card of Thanks

July 6, 1917; Forest City Press: "The Gate House, Thursday last, had a crowd of twenty to thirty people land "All to Wonst" at their front door for dinner. It turned out to be Mr. H. G. Arens of Eagle Butte who was taking five new cars home with him for as many customers. Among the number in the party we noticed Mr. R.D. Blaine of Eagle Butte."
Per obituary: " In 1882 the family moved from Wisconsin to Pieere, and one year later they moved to Sully County. In 1892 they took up their home in Forest City where Mrs. Gates lived until four years ago. From then on thill her death she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Smith, of Cheyenne Agency.
Mrs. Gates was a life-long member of the M. E. Church, having united with it in early girlhood. Her Christian devotion is evident in all her services to others, many of whom will miss a true friend in her departure In addition to the three children who survive the deceased, there are nine grandchildren, and Uncle T. D. Reed, and his son Cilfford of LaPlant, Mr. and Mrs. George Shepardson of Huron, and Mr. and Mrs. Evertt Euneau and daughter, Mary Lou, of Fort Yates, North Dakota, were present for the funeral."November 19, 1903; Forest City Press; Forest City, Potter Co.
